Has anyone experienced improved eye sight after going raw?
If so, I'd really love to hear more about it.

Thanks!

i've heard from a couple of people that they started to see better- but that was after at least a year or so.. i'm hoping to experience this benefit sometime during my raw journey :D

I took the 5 day accelerated course with Alissa and there was another student in the class who said that she had been wearing glasses for 40 years of her life, and 6 months into going raw her eyesight completely corrected itself!

I think it might depend on the cause of poor eye sight. If it was health vs. vision, if that makes since. Diabetes, cataracts, glaucoma, migraines, tension headaches can cause a temporary or permanent loss of vision. I can imagine with raw, that can clear up fairly quickly. If its vision (needing glasses or contacts), it might take a bit longer (if ever) depending on the exact cause.

I stopped getting blurry vision, but it wasnt a issue of needing corrective lenses because my vision was always 20/20; it was probably an underlining health issue.

I'm noticing more and more people in my circles of friends are getting diagnosed with macular degeneration. To me there is a lot that proper nutrition can do to help ward that off, so there's a big benefit of raw on your eyesight right there!

I have! It's odd because every 3 months or so my eyes change and I can physically tell because they get a little blurry and I can't focus a little bit. I went to get them tested because intuitively I felt they were getting BETTER and healing, not worse. The results? The optomitrist said she's never seen anyone's eye sight improve until mine :) My eyes havn't been getting blurry for a while now either.

Were you near sighted? And if so, how bad was it and how much did it improve (diopter wise)? Do they keep improving all the time? How long have you been raw?
Am really curious!

I was just going to ask that!

My (far-sighted) husband discovered he no longer needed his glasses after a while (can't recall how long it was before this occurred, though).

I'm near-sighted and I wear glasses to see things far but I have noticed that my current prescription is bothering me so I'm HOPING that it means that they glasses are too strong and that next time I go to the eye doctor they'll weaken the prescription - which, of course, would indicate an improvement.

Alissa mentions in her book that she used to need glasses and stopped after going raw.

Boy that would be swell. I've been wearing glasses since fourth grade, and I can't see a darn thing without glasses or contacts!

Yup, I was/am? near sighted. Weird thing is that my eyes have NEVER been blurry as my mom and doctors always thought. Things were just smaller I guess. Odd, I know. I think I was 20/60 or 80 and now 20/30 or so. I'm not sure how big of an improvement that is though number wise. I had them tested over a year ago though so I hope they have improved even more. I've been raw off and on for a little over 4 years.

for a few years now my by the end of the day my eyes would be burning and dry, really sore. I started out just adding a handful of raw almonds every day with my salad for lunch after reading a book by Dr. Oz who recomend almonds every day and in 3 months by eyes had stopped all the burning and dryness. Since going raw just mid July this year I can now read some things without my glasses that I never could before. I'm hoping to see more improvment after the Sept. 30 day 100% challenge.

it maybe coincidence but I had to have my contact perscription made weaker in my first year Raw. My eye DR was impressed as most 46 yr old need stronger perscrpt.:D

Thats really cool! Imagine the money you'll save not having to worry about eye doctor appointments, contact refills, new lenses, lost glasses and need new ones, kid broke glasses and need new ones. B/c you won't have them anymore! yay!
What about hearing. I've worked in a call center of a credit union for 6 1/2 years. Hateful people yelling in my ear, kids screaming in my ear, phone receiver feedback screeching. Have all made the hearing in my left ear bad. I can't switch ears b/c then the head set just feels weird.
I hope it can help with my hearing. I can't be a court reporter if it goes bad.

I wish I was that lucky. I went for my check up last month & he had to make my RX stronger. I am 51, far sighted & who knows what else. I have been RAW for 15 months & I was hoping that my eye sight would improve. Oh well.

I bet your body is healing itself in other more important areas first. We'll never know, but if you weren't raw for the past 15 months the prescription may have been much stronger than it was. I'm not sure I'm saying what I want to correctly...

I didn't have really bad vision, just needed them to read for long periods of time, but after raw I didn't need them at all.

Judy... this is one gift that i am really hoping to recieve from my raw foods! Someone told me that it takes at least a year b4 you start noticing any serious changes... although I've also read some individuals have noticed changes as soon as 4 and 5 months raw. So far (i'm finishing up my 5th month raw today) and I haven't noticed any changes in my vision... but... I'm still believing for that miracle! :D

My prescription is about -3.5, which comes out to about 20/300 or maybe a little worse. But the doctor did lower it from -4.00 over the last two years and I have been nowhere close to 100% and have splurged often on the worst of sad foods.

I have been RAW since July 24. Basically my glasses are reading glasses, plus just a bit of help on distance. I was having trouble with reading on TV because it was a bit blurred. However, now I do not wear the glasses to watch TV because the blur is gone. I have high hopes in time to do away with the glasses!

Thanksfor starting this Judy, I thought I may be crazy.. okay I still may be crazy ;) but my eyesight is becoming amazing. I wasn't sure if it was because of raw living foods and all the detoxing, or because I'm juicing about 2lbs of carrots a day, BUT my eyesight is probably better than 20/20. I used to be jst a bit farsighted and have never needed glasses, so I don't have my eyes tested, unfortunately I can't give specific numbers. I went to a concert a couple of weeks ago and saw a girl's split ends from about 15' away, no kidding. Also my eyes are changing color, which I'm not entirely happy about.. my clothes all match my old eye color! They used to be a pretty dark green/hazel and are now really clear and kind of aqua colored. Crazy right? If I hear "dude! your eyes!" one more time....

Well, maybe it's not that crazy, I've heard of other raw foodists whose eyecolor has changed or became so much brighter... Shazzie being a famous one.
I also had a friend (not raw) who said his eyes used to be a lot browner, but became more green over time. Plus this friend actually knew someone who grew a complete new set of teeth (but I think that person was not raw either). This was off topic... I know... But to demonstrate that our bodies are not as 'fixed' as we believe, but ever changing.
Actually I'm secretly hoping for my eyecolor to change as well, I've always wanted green eyes since I was a kid (have light brown eyes with some green)... But anyway, not that that's a priority or anything, although eyeSIGHT is... Besides raw, I'm diving into other ways of natural vision improvement, if anyone's interested, there's a lot of material out there to improve your eye sight naturally. This is being one of them (based on the work of -famous in the field of holistic eye improvement- Dr. William Bates): http://www.amazon.com/Relearning-See-Improve-Eyesight-Naturally/dp/1556433417/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-2174273-0863364?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1188632450&sr=8-1

My bf is an optometrist and - of course - he says diet can never correct vision. That's the classic doc's response, of course. If everyone went raw in this world, just think how the whole medical establishment would go bankrupt. Ha!

well nature didn't plan us with glasses... or bad sight :|

*day dreaming* wouldn't it be great that we destroy all the glasses industery just by eating raw ^_^

I'm gonna help my boyfriend start getting into raw over the year... and hopefully the fact he'll get better sight (and maybe no need for glasses) will motivate him aswell ^_^

I went to get my eyes checked and new glasses yesterday. My eyes have improved slightly since 4 years ago when I last was in. This is unbeliveable, must be the raw food, ya think?

I posted a couple of months ago that I very seldom need my reading glasses anymore. I had consistently gone up to about 2.00 or 2.50 strength, and even needed them to read e-mail and other stuff on the computer.

Now I use only 1.00 strength occasionally for very small print. And even then only if my eyes are tired or I've been reading a lot all day.

(life has been going non-stop for the last two months and I haven't been able to get time in here; am trying to catch up with all of the posts since around the end of July. Glad to be BACK!!!)
