Okay, I'm prepared with my raw food for another week but I have some questions.
Can you help:
1. Seeds are so much cheaper than nuts; can they be used instead in recipes??
2. Nori sheets are expensive! (okay, comment, not a question)
3. They only had bulk walnuts, and not RAW. now, does this mean they are not raw EVEN if you sprout them?
4. Finally, my health store sells sprouted MANNA bread. A raw foodist employee tells me this is as close to raw as you can get. you thaw it, and then eat....any comments on that?

Thanks,
BellaB

You are so cute. :) I like you already.

First, as close as you can get, usually means No. It's not completely raw. Wouldn't know myself unless you could tell me exactly how it's made. A better option would be to use the onion bread recipe in the other section of this board for bread.

Secondly, if it doesn't say raw...I wouldn't try it.

Third, this is your journey and the choices you make for your health are yours. If you are comfortable at 50 % raw...60-80% or 100% that's your choice. As I've been told in the past there are no raw police, this is a lifestyle. If you eat something and discover later it isn't raw, but you are doing the best you can...don't sweat it. ;)

Keep on Rawkin'! You're doing great.:D

[QUOTE=bellabella;325016]1. Seeds are so much cheaper than nuts; can they be used instead in recipes??

I have used sunseeds in place of nuts quite well..it's not usually the same texture and taste, though, but it can and has been done, especailly with the high prices of nuts.

4. Finally, my health store sells sprouted MANNA bread. A raw foodist employee tells me this is as close to raw as you can get. you thaw it, and then eat....any comments on that?

Manna bread is a sprouted cooked grain bread. It's baked at 425 degree oven for half an hour. No, it's not raw at all. It tastes raw, though. It's probably the closest bread to raw that your gonna find in the stores, and it's alot healthier then regular bread. Good transition food, I suppose.

That's so true! Sometimes it's impossible to be 100% sure if something is raw, but i guess we just have to do our best :D and in the end, we learn more and do even better!

DAMMIT! I KNEW it couldn't be raw cause MANNNNNNN this bread is GOOD. Okay, still learning I guess. I'm going to check with the RAW group here in Ottawa just to be certain (see how resistant I am to give that up? I was going to go spend $100 on it tomorrow! ....I still might.....It was just what I needed and it stopped all of my cravings.).
