The Irony of the whole Yoplait "save Lids to save lives!' campaign?
Basically, you buy yogurt which will probably GIVE you cancer in a cute plastic container, then you save the caps, send them into Yoplait and they donate money to cancer research.
okkkk

uuh there's so much ^#$&()@_ going on with commercial foods..... since going raw- i view them in such a different light- i feel like i'm not affected by them :o knowledge is power! maybe several months ago i'd think -oh what a great thing! eat healthy yogurt AND help society...... now i'd think very differently

The thing that gets me about these campaigns, is that, if I want to donate money to a charity, why wouldn't I just give DIRECTLY TO the charity instead of going through a 'middle man'?! And I don't know about the Yoplait campaign, but most of these companies only donate like 10 cents per person, or something insane like that......crazy.

I'm from Australia. Guess what I saw on television the other night? Buy a MEAT PIE for cancer. Ugh!!
Also, those stupid McDonald meals that are a way to donate money to cancer...
It's so annoying.
The irony of it all...

I must be living under a rock (non-mainstream crunchy rock) because I haven't heard of it. It reminds me when my mother was telling me about a research study at her hospital called the "milk study" where they were giving young overweight/obese girls milk to see if it help with their weight.

I haven't seen that one but I know just what you mean.
Months ago there was a meat commercial... Meat for real men.
When it is the meat that clogs the arteries and takes away manhood (what most men think is).
You know what tickles me though? Raw is growing so rapidly that people are wising up to the pile of lies we've been fed for decades.
Grow raw grow!!!

I totally agree JR. The other thing Ive noticed since going raw is how terrible the reality of the whole meat/murder thing really is and how trully wrong it is.
Ive also become aware of the karma that comes with food choices.
And I agree about the pile of 'rot' weve been fed for years about food.
Eating Raw food liberates us in every area of our lives, least of all spiritually. You cant help feeling 'authority control' comes into the equation somewhere.
Since going raw I have become a completely liberated, supreme being with endless energy and happiness....I rest my case :)

I've heard of runs for cancer where they have fried chicken after. I've also heard of diabetes run sponsored by Coke. Guess what most would be drinking after the run!?

Oh of course. Cancer is just a business, pretty much... Ever since I learned cancer is not able to live in antioxident-rich, highly-oxygenated bodies, I've been so appaled at the cancer industry. Where is their RESEARCH? EAT RAW! Simple as that. You don't want cancer? Stop eating crap-in-a-jar. The whole corporate world only looks into what gives them the most money. They don't give a crap if it costs people their lives. As long as they get theirs.

i know... and seriously- i did feel like crying... i just felt like this kind of eating (oh yea and DIET COKE TOO!) would make her cancer come back, and it would kill me to see that happen :(
but i tried to talk about food and... well some people just can't process such information and say NO to the junk food they're addicted to. :(

I feel like I'm supporting cancer research by NOT buying yogurt, and instead living by example...and when I am the only person in my family who doesn't get some type of cancer, perhaps they'll realize how important nutrition IS.

it's sad..people have to wait till someone gets cancer to start listening. IF...they start listening. Some people I know that have cancer feel that changing their diet is too hard or something..because I gave them the information and offer classes on food preparation and they don't show up.

the average person is very misinformed about diet obviously. but i don't blame them. its not entirely their fault. several years ago in my previous mindstate i would have viewed raw foodism as wack too. i've opened my mind a lot since then but im sure im close minded in other ways to other things. that's why im always working to be tolerant, understanding and forever opening and blossoming. when people regard me like im half nuts, i dont really get angry. i understand. they just aren't at the place i'm at and thats reality.

Wendy's sells booklets of Frosty coupons and donates the proceeds to diabetes research!

Don't even get me started about hospital food! It's HORRIBLE! you would think it should be the healthiest for the most ill people, but it's not. There are McDonald's in some of them. Heck I wonder if the Ronald McDonals charity and houses have McDonald's there? I'm sorry, it's kind of a joke to me and unbelieveable, though it's true.
In my book for one of my classes it tals about genes and illnesses and if nutrition is related. Cancer and diabetes are on the other half twoards the "genetic" side, but said food still may have an impact. "MAY"!
