I have ordered the book, but have not received it yet. So, maybe Alissa's book will answer this question for me, but..... I am feeling hypoglycemic in the morning. I am having
16 oz water with lemon juice
16 oz green smoothie (banana, 1 cup strawberries, 2 cups of kale)

Within 2 hours after I drink this I am starving, feeling lightheaded and shaky. What am I doing wrong? I remember when I tried Fit for Life food combining about 5 years ago, and this same thing happened. It also happens if I just eat oatmeal or a whole grain cereal for breakfast. The only time I feel really full in the morning is when I eat animal protein. Since I am trying to eliminate it, I don't know what to do?! I would appreciate any advice anyone can give.
Thank you.

You eat almost nothing and 2 hours later you're starving, what could it be? My guess is... you need to eat more! :) Your stomach is basically empty after a night's sleep, so eat eat eat a good breakfast.

If you have always eaten animal protein in the morning, that is probably the reason. This is what I have learned about this issue...

It takes soooo long and so much energy to digest animal protein that your body is using all of it's energy to digest food. When you eliminate the animal protein and eat/drink foods that digest quickly, your body finally has energy to heal/cleanse. The symptoms you describe are possibly detox symptoms, not true hunger.

Thank you so much for that article. It was great. I will also try to eat more. But, I noticed that most people that eat raw drink smoothies or juices in the morning and that is it. I suppose after they are detoxed they do not need as much food. It goes against everything that I have learned over the years about juice (even fruit or veg) making your sugar go high and then crash. I had thought that it was better to eat all veg and fruit whole, not juiced. And, I have been brainwashed to think that protein is the only way to feel satisfied. But, apparently that is just one theory. I am learning..........
My main goal is health because luckily I do not have much weight to lose and I want to get rid of my "addiction" to food.

you can add more fat in the morning to keep you full longer! like oils in your smoothie, or avocado... helps me! :)
