Just wondering if anyone follows a plan to eat different types of foods at specific times?

As for myself, from reading various books on how the body digests foods, I've worked out that if I want to loose weight only fresh fruit should be eaten until noon or the body's detox and weight loss cycle will be interupted (from the book Fit For Life). And I read in Kombucha: How-to and What It's All About (which goes very deeply into the subject of how the liver functions) that the liver is most ready to digest protein from noon until 3pm and that the evening meal should be a light meal. So I like to eat my protein (green smoothies ect.) in the early afternoon, and then my dried fruit in the form of cakes and brownies at 4pm and lighter fruit in the evening. So anyway, my daily menu plan would be:

Breakfast to noon - snack on fresh fruit
Noon to 3pm - protein and greens
4pm - dried fruit
evening - fresh fruit

I was always wondering that myself and am a planning kind of a person. My 'plan' is always to have a green smoothie in the morning, a raw meal for lunch, a raw dessert at around 4, and fruit for dinner. When I was eating SAD food I would lose weight by eating that way but I would have cereal for breakfast and a SAD meal for lunch. So yeah, I'm good at making plans but not really good at following them due to my work schedule! But we will see. Good luck on your plan :)
But then again, the no-fruit-after-noon confuses me though. I think my body is ok with it in the evening.

I see that you like desert at 4pm and fruit in the evening like me too. :) I think of the 4pm desert as being like the afternoon English tea which people have been doing for generations. I think that it has some basis in the body's functions, i.e. all that protein at lunch is digesting and draining our energy and so we like to eat deserts at that time for a quick energy pick up.

Maybe I didn't explain the "fruit only in the morning" theory is because at that time the liver is busy cleaning up and if heavy foods like fats and protein are eaten the liver has to stop cleaning and start digesting. If fresh fruit only is eaten then the liver is not needed and can clean up and detox longer. I didn't mean to imply that fruit shouldn't be eaten after noon.

Too much like work. I eat what I want, when I want it. Seems to be working fine for me. It's rare that I want much other than fruit/smoothie in the a.m. ~ at least until about 10 or so... but then again, sometimes I want nuts... then again, I may not eat at all until 2 p.m. or so.

I never divide my fruit into fats, protein, carbs, etc. and, for the life of me, if anyone asked me to do so, I couldn't.

If I tell myself to eat what I want, when I want, then I will eat and eat like there's no tomorrow. Haha. I'm a planner though. So I need some kind of schedule for everything, even eating. I'm weird like that. :D

As for the fruit thing, I know there are some people that say not to eat fruit at night. Heck, there are even people that don't eat fruit at all. I could not survive not eating fruit.

I guess I break all the "rules" then!;) (Big surprise there!:D ) I had jalepeno stuffed olives for breakfast this morning (the ones Alissa sells). And they were SO good! Does it mean I ate "wrong"? NO! It means I was hungry and wanted some olives!:D

I eat what I want whenever I want also...but I always seem to like Green Smoothies or a Chocolate Banana Shake in the morning and greens in the afternoon. I crave the heavier food (nuts & seed, desserts) later in the afternoon & into evening. I will switch it around when I feel like it!

I eat when I'm hungry and I drink when I'm dry. 100% raw day after day, one bite at a time.

i try not to plan ahead too much (if i think of food, i'm just making myself hungry!)

but i make sure that whenever i eat nuts- i add greens to that meal..... or if i eat high sugary fruits- also add greens, this way i seem to have no problems with digestion or energy spikes or anything...

If you think of your digestion like a compost pile...it makes sense the idea of protein in the morning, carbs at night

protein is very hot fuel that takes a long time to burn..so it provides energy all day, simple carbs turn over fast so you can rest and repair at night

This is very similar to how I eat through the day. Green smoothie in the morning almost always, salads and heavier foods (and desserts!) later in the afternoon and evening too. I also make a chocolate banana shake (with almond mylk) and have this often for dinner. So I guess eating lighter in the morning and moving to heavier foods through the day works for me!

ditto! I transition for light to heavier foods... fruit morning to mid afternoon, green smoothies, then salads & veges, nuts, avocado later.

So how does this work for all of you? Any weight loss as a result or do you just maintain this way?

Hi All,
I'm just starting out and new to all this but this is what works for me and from research I've done seems to be the best for your body.
Fruit till noon any and as much as you want. If you have a problem with sugar add a small amount of raw nuts.
After noon, any veggie, seed, sprout, or raw dish.
It is best if you eat your biggest , heavest meal in the early afternoon and eat light or nothing at all in the evening.

Now in Alissa"s book she says, eat what you want when you want it esp when 1st starting out, listen to your body and adjust as you go.
I"m totaly parapharsing here.

So what I think is if it's raw if you like it if you want it eat it! Just listen to want you want and you'll find the longer you stick to raw most bodies will want simple whole food not so much of the nut dishes and heavy stuff. But hey you may be different and want all heavy dishes and nut stuff, as long as it's fresh and raw go for it.
