I know that tomatoes have a high sodium content. Does anyone experience bloating or water retention after eating a lot of tomatoes? Also, does sea salt have the same type of water retention effect as regular table salt? Thanks!

I never ever got bloated on tomatoes. I use sea salt sometimes, Never retained water from that either. I grow alot of tomatoes every year too. I can't get enough of them. They have Many benifits too. I like them with Avocado too. Doug in Calif.....100% Raw and loving it....

I have an issue with sea salt and gain A LOT of water weight. I think for about the first week after removing salt from my diet again I load up on a bunch of tomatoes 5-6 a day plus grape tomatoes, and about 2 hearts of celery a day and lose the water weight! Both are full of natural sodium.

Thanks for your responses. Ive noticed gaining a lot of water weight too with sea salt, however, i really love it in salad dressings. but i sort of feel that with tomatoes, too, and i dont know why.

As you go, you won't need the salt any more. Your body will adjust to veges without salt.

I agree. I never use salt or feel the need for it.

I cannot imagine not wanting salt!! :)
Though I HAVE been using less of it since I've been raw, now that I think about it.

I had been off salt for years due to high blood pressure at one time.
Now with RAW it seems all I want to eat is tomatoes, onion and avocado salad with tons of sea salt. I assume that is what my body needs or I wouldn't be craving it. However, bloating and fluid retention is a problem. Don't know if I can blame it all on salt, tomato or just what.

I love tomatoes and find them really nice with a little EVOO, fresh basil and black pepper... before raw I loved them with salt, and now I don't even like the taste!!!
