Hello,
kinda need to vent.. but i also have some questions....

my husband is in the army, and has been having some medical problems. his back is out of alignment and he is trying to go visit the chiriorpractor on the base.. (he has been going to a chirpractor for over 14 years!) but he has to go throught this reglar doctor to get a referal to go see the chiropractor. he hates to go to the doctor!! but anyway, insted of refering him to the chiropractor he came home with muscle relaxors, and asprin. another thing is that he is having broblems breathing when he is running, the keep telling him it is the altitude (we are in Colorado) but he has been having this problem ever sence he joined. he thinks it's astma. does anyone have any success stories about brathing problems?? he is kinda depressed about it. he is thinking about going raw:D and i need some ideas about when he is doing feild training what to take along to eat.. that won't go bad because of the heat.. thanks for your comments:D

Since RAW helps almost evey physical condition under the sun, his conditions will probably be helped by RAW.
I pack food around all the time and have had no trouble with spoiling. I was concerned about it in the beginning because I'm a long distance cycler and was anxious about what to take along. I also do a considerable amount of travelling . Here's what I know.
Lots of fruits are hardy and keep well --apples, oranges, grapefruits, bananas (though I usually eat them first before they bake. TAke nice firm ones.
Dehydrated things pack well -- crackers, breads, bagels, etc. They keep very well.
Alissa's fudge balls make the simplest of meals away like a feast.
Green smoothies can be packed in a thermous. I've made batches of energy soup and kept it going all day. It keeps me quite satisfied and then I munch on other things.
Good luck! I hope this helps. And I hope your husband can get to a chiropractor soon. It's a much better plan thanaspirin and other medications. My iffy back of a number of years has been much helped by yoga. I am 66 now and my back is better than it's ever been --RAW diet and yoga!:p

Ugh, the freakin Army and their "motrin" will solve everything stance. It's really very irritating. I'm sorry he didn't get his referral. If he continues to pester them, they'll eventually give him the referral just to shut him up...

We haven't had to deal with field time, yet, since being raw, so I'm really not sure what does and does not work. I know they have limited packing space, so I'm sure loading up on hardy fruits wouldn't be too ideal, but a few would be good. Do you dehydrate? I'm not a big fan of dehydrated foods, but that would be something handy, compact, and with staying power (tummy filling, lol). You could make your own version of dried soup packets - just add water. Trail mixes. Grab and Go bars (like lara bars or the like). Depending on how long the field time is, he could possibly use it as a couple day water fast... though if he's not used to fasting, that may drain his energy pretty quickly, and that wouldn't be such a good thing while training, huh? lol.

You can use the search option up there and look up the threads about packing an emergency kit ... there were some pretty good ideas on what kind of raw foods to use in those.

I hope he gets to feeling better very soon!
