I have found a vitamix being sold used. Unfortunately, the warrenty is up in December. My other regular blender bit the dust. Is it really that awesome? I would love to hear opinions one way or the other.

It seems as if, although I have the 3-hp KTEC and am quite happy with how smooth my smoothies get. Either one is great!

I have an Oster blender that i got at Target for $40.00. It has 12 speeds. I'm sure it is not as great as the vtex or vitamix, but i use it 2x a day and it only takes about 2minutes to make my green smoothies.

Vitamix is the Mercedes of blenders. If you found one buy it before someone else does.

I LUV my VitaMix. It's quick, easy and gets the job done. Highly recommended.

Consumer Reports recently did a test of blenders. The Vitamix came out #1, that's more than the K-Tec/BlendTec.
The only downside they said was cost.
They chose a cheap blender too as a "best buy" with cost factored in, but the VM tested to be the best of all they tested. It also has a 7 year warranty.
Make sure you get the 5000 model, with the VARIABLE SPEED dial on it, not just the one with High or Low.
