but even more excited about this lifestlye! I'm in the middle of Alissa's book, the part with the success stories. Wow! I can't wait to start feeling some real positive changes. I'm no longer tired but the bloating is here. I look 4 months pregnant. Not painful bloat, just a hard round tummy. Did anyone else experience this? Bloating/cramps/gas is an issue for me. Any suggestions as to what I can do?

are you combining foods properly? CHEWING your food slowly? having regular BM's ?

I'm not sure about the combining. I'll have to look over that section again. I know to eat melon alone and not to combine fruit and veggies (but fruit and and leafy greens are fine). The most combining I do is raw almonds with a fruit...like today it was with a pear. Is that okay? I do eat fast. I'll have to make a conscious effort to not do that. I'm just returning to work after being a stay at home for a few years so I'm not use to having the option of eating slowly. I usually have to rush through a meal before someone needs me or my kids try to eat it all, lol. I haven't been able to eat much because of the bloating but here's what I've had today:
almonds and pear
salad: lettuce, mung bean sprouts, mushrooms, blueberries, oil and vinegar dressing
almonds and apple
dried apricots
and I drink water off and on all day while I'm at the desk. I've had tea also. I meant to ask is that okay to drink? Its my 'addiction' My bowel movements aren't everyday although I feel the urge to go (usually just gas though, lol). I'll feel nauseas from time to time after I eat. Maybe I should go ahead and get an enema.

You're on day 3...I would not start stressing about your combinations or how much you are eating. Try to slow down and chew better, yes, but at this point I'd say it is more important to keep avoiding the foods that are not healthy. Let your body adjust to the bulk. Or blend/juice/chew well to help your digestion as you detox.

As far as tea goes, I don't feel it is good. To wean off I would switch to herbal infusions.

I cant do raw nuts and fruit together, or else I get bad intestinal distress. If you are more interested in proper food combinations you'll find fruit is only best alone or with greens.
Perhaps try tomorrow and not mix the two and see how you feel

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I'll stick with fruit alone or with greens. I forgot to add that I had half an avacado with my salad...I looooove avacado! I'll try herbal infusions too (think I spelled that right). Where would I buy it? Is that the stuff thats shaped as a triangle? Or am I thinking of something else?

Oh, it's just another name for herbal tea. Take any herb and steep it in water. Loose herbs from a health food store, or the kind in a box.

Green smoothies make me go. Are you having one every day?

:D YOUR ON DAY 3... STOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!:D
Unless your body, has been used to eating tons of fruits and veggies everyday, your gonna bloat in the beginning. ONce your body adjusts, this shall go away. DONT LISTEN TO THE- DONT EAT THIS AND DONT EAT THAT PEOPLE... Just EAT RAW.
But if it really bothers ya,, Add quality digestive enzymes. To help your body adjust. But my GOD, day 3 and the worry sets in... Oy veii... * sits in corner and copes*:D
You have eatin typical food for how long? It aint gonna be overnight Ma, its journey a shedding process... Those who fail think this is gonna be some overnight process. It def aint. You gotta be in it for the long haul, like a marriage. Takes time... Just hang in.

On Day 3, all the extra fiber and water you're taking in is probably freaking your body out a bit. Give it a little time. :)
Try eating one kind of food at a time, also, with about an hour in between. That helped me when my stomach started complaining.
All the best!

lol, thanks! Don't mention marriage..I'm going through a divorce! haha Yeah, I have been reminding myself that it has only been a few days and my body isn't use to all the fruits and veggies (especially fruit). I do feel much much better today. I got an enema but am afraid to use it! I think the fear of using that thing made me go on my own, haha. So its just hanging out in case the bloat comes back. I always freak out when I'm bloated. The first time that happened I was 15 and I didn't know what was wrong with me, than after I had my 2nd daughter, I'd get bloated after eating almost anything. When I did low carb dieting (a long time ago) the bloating went away but when I started eating bad again, it came back noticebly worse. My poor digestive system really needs a break I'm sure. This time I am more interested in the healing aspects of live food, I completely believe in it! I am hoping this will help stablize my moods. Since I was 10 I've been really moody, I get on everyones nerves...including my own! I also need energy for my babies so all of that is more important to me so I'll deal with the bloat and 'know' that is will pass. :) Thanks again for all the replies! Each day I wake up feeling better and I'm so excited to finally be taking control over my health.

hi i've been raw 4-6 weeks and had such gas i could barely stand up straight. I took gas x and tried beano before i ate, no luck. I went to Whole Foods and talked to the nutritionist and she suggested emzymes you take at each meal to help your body break down the raw food (which your body isn't used to) she also said if my body wasn't breaking things down properly that i wasn't getting all the nutritional value from what i am eating. I've been using it for several days and NO bloating, NO gas!!! it started working immediately.
