do cooked foods become unappealing and downright yucky after being raw for just a few weeks? Last night I cooked a normal dinner for my hubby with chicken, spinach, and pasta. Six weeks ago, I would have been all over this meal. Last night as I was finishing his dinner up, I had gotten really hungry. Usually, I ask him to taste what I am cooking to season it up well (he is really good at that anyway), but last night he was outside doing something and I was really hungry anyway, so I thought 'what the heck---I will just do this myself'. I almost couldn't swallow it--it was disgusting. While he was eating later, he said it tasted great. So I guess it is just eating raw. I think I read somewhere that it changes your taste buds, or am I crazy?

well, i used to be addicted to peanut butter.. and couple of weeks ago i saw it on the shelf...STARING at me and wanted JUST ONE SPOON- omg it tasted HORRIBLE, i can't expain.. it just felt so.... um processed?
i don't know- it was good peanut butter (people who tasted it later told me), but if tasted so "dead" to me.. i don't know if it's the tastebuds or it's all in my mind but yes, cooked food tastes quite disgusting to me now!

Nope! You're not crazy. My husband's been bringing in bread, pasta, sauces.. and, I was looking at the bread just a bit a go and thought... hmmm... I don't even want that! How cool is that? :D

I had some Sourdough bread a while back and it reminded me of that play dough from childhood. It was really gross.
I've also had some non-raw desserts such as candy bars or cookies and they taste way too sweet now.

Same with me. I grieve the loss of the food and I dream about cheating and when I finally sneak a taste, I am sooooo disappointed. I love RAW!

definitely! it's only been a little over a month since getting really close to 100%, but not only do i not have cravings for cooked food (especially meat) but the sound of some of the cooked dishes is just downright repulsive to me. and i am not one to exaggerate.

Every now and then when I let myself get too hungry, something WILL tempt me for just a very short time because my memory will pop up and say,"boy, that mango you had? Well, that was delicious, better then this cooked pizza!" and then the craving will eventually go away. Still, I don't dare bring doughnuts near me YET....

I noticed this the other night, hubby was eating chicken breasts with rice, just the site of him eating it made me want to through up, you tend to like what you eat what ever that is.

This sounds silly, as I have only been RAW for a week so far, I did have a slip yesterday as my TOM craving kicked in. I ate a slice of toast :o and it was so revolting, it was like eating charcoal.
I have also found that my husband's meals smell disgusting to me also, though he claims they taste great.
I was already vegan before RAW, is that why I'm getting bad smellovision? :p

Yes cooked food is sooooo gross after being raw consistently. Wouldn't it be great if everyone tried raw for awhile to get to this point because usually they are very skeptical when I say this.
Now I have found the reverse to not be true for me. Raw food is always good even if I'm eating tons of cooked foods. A juicy piece of fruit or a big crunchy salad, yum, always a treat!

I thought I was just imagining it myself, but YUP! Cooked/cooking food stinks! I used to think it smelled great, but now every time I smell food cooking, there always seems to be this undertone of "garbage smell" like death is lurking nearby (BWAHAHAHAHAH!!!!) It's something I keep to myself unless asked, as my fam still eats cooked & we've finally gotten to the point where everyone is comfy with my eating style. Before it was like no matter what I said I was attacking their food choices.... ::sigh::
I've only been raw for 2 months (Tuesday the 28th is my 2 month mark!) so I'm kind of surprised that not only do I not want any cooked food at all, but it's gotten to be worse than unappealing to me already!:p

I thought *I* was crazy, when I felt this way only a week after going raw! I had to prepare a cooked chocolate torte for a concert exactly one week after going raw. I tasted just a sliver of it, and found it disgusting! There was a yummy chocolate flavor, but underneath that I tasted a yucky flavor of something--maybe the dairy?? I was amazed, but as one friend told me--don't complain, take it as the miracle it is!
I have noticed that I am less tolerant of cooking odors now--and I have to tolerate them, because I live with two non-raw omnivores. I thought I would hurl when one was grilling meat the other day. I have been vegetarian for 15 years, and until recently found the smell of meat appetizing, though I couldn't stomach actually eating it.
Whatever the cause, I celebrate the way I feel. Who knows, we may ALL be crazy! But I know I am in good company!!;)

I have to say that ever since the beginning of March I have tried & tried & TRIED to be 100% raw. I would go for 2-5-8-12 days or however long, only to cave and eat something I had just been craving. It tasted really good but the after affects were much different than when I was just SAD. For instance, my favorite meal is Pad Chili Thai which is basically stir-fried beef with vegetables in a chili sauce & rice. A year ago I went vegetarian so I would get it with just the veggies, and it was great.
Anyway, long story short - during that time when I was desperately trying to make it past the 12-day mark and never succeeding (seriously, it was so tormenting, the way SAD food was for me!!) I would get that Thai food. I could NOT believe how it made me fall like a stone within minutes of eating it, like I had been almost "floating" above the ground, I felt so light, and immediately I felt like a ton of bricks. I felt heavy and had to go lay down where I felt sick for a few hours.
So I went from that happening pretty much over & over - to now. I finally buddied up with a friend of mine & we both challenged each other - we've been raw for 33 days now. I CAN'T believe it - but it IS true! I barely glance at cooked food, and am noticing restaurant signs (lol you know how it is!) less & less.
It's one thing to be 100% raw and feel good, and know you're doing the right thing, etc etc. It's another thing to ALSO be so strongly tempted that you are always wrestling with yourself - this is what it's like when you're on other diets, no matter what they are. But with 100% raw AND with a big green smoothie per day - I am absolutely amazed at my nonchalant attitude towards the things that used to make me salivate at the very thought.
BUT - like someone said - I don't dare bring my huge downfall which is chips, into the house. I'm still weak and I know it, and I have to tread lightly. But this thread gets a huge AMEN from me!
AND I'M PREGNANT - that has to be the proof right there - because everyone knows that pregnancy cravings are not something to be messed around with. It's like, I AM MOMMA AND I WANT BLIZZARD type of thing, LOL!
Now I'm like I AM MOMMA AND I WANT MY MANGO/AVOCADO/MACADAMIA SALAD! Tee hee! (as I sit here feeling sorry for myself because my mangos aren't ripe enough yet)
