what do you guys think about this, can i make my own by juicing oranges and then freezing it, or is the plain concentrate from the store safe? it doesn't have any additives after all that are listed...
i have to say it makes my smoothies so much tastier than using water as a base

You can juice and freeze. Concentrate from store? No.

Sure you can blend and freeze anything for a base for smoothies.
The store bought crap has a ton of sugar usually and/or preservatives. It's awful stuff.
Even 100% juice concentrate has been pasteurized. :(

This is categorically untrue, when she's talking about frozen concentrated orange juice, not sunny de-light or something... There are many brands of concentrated orange juice that have no other ingredients but oranges.
HOWEVER, concentrated orange juice is NOT RAW.
Even those so called fresh squeezed orange juices like Tropicana, Minute Maid in the 2-quart cartons are PASTEURIZED.
You can make smoothies taste good without. Try frozen raspberries, blueberries, etc. and half a fresh orange.
Yes you can freeze your own, you can even do it in ice cube trays. Just don't keep it for months and months in the freezer.
