Gross. Now why couldnt she just take the middle ground? Why the extremes in behavior?

Hmmm. . . . and I was convinced that the rise in IBS was linked to the decade (approximate) of GMO foods.

She would have been far more effective in proving her point if she used the water-only method for cleaning her body, hair & teeth. There probably would have been no or very little negatives and really show people that all those products aren't necessary, yet you can still maintain a decent hygiene/beauty level.
Gilmore Girl... I totally agree!
I actually do not wash my hair with shampoo or condition... but I shower with water (which is obviously not a modern-day chemical), and you would never know. In fact, my hair is far nicer than it was when I used the shampoo and/or conditioner regularly...
Interesting read.

I'm too greasy and sweaty for water only, but you don't need 20 products either.

I'm too greasy and sweaty for water only, but you don't need 20 products either. Actually you'll find that changes after awhile. There's many people who've done this with the same concern on hair forums like longhaircommunity.
Not something I do for my own reasons, but I do use natural products & don't use many products. Would love to be even more simple. Eating SAD & using chemical products is what makes it necessary to use things to cover up problems. Raw allows you to get away with less.

GREAT experiment. Thank you RC for posting it. I agree that it would have been more effective if she'd at least used water. Other than that, I like that she went to the "extreme" for her and then found a balance. Thanks again!
I'd like to try it eating raw and using only water. Think anyone would notice? :D

I only use natural products too, but I'm not at the point where I can go soap free. :o

I've experimented with using Dr. Bonners only for every aspect of cleaning, body laundry and house included
It was awesom, but I still feel better swishing bleach in the toilet...I know, I know:o.
My hair also repsonds well to conditioning only sans the shampoo.

Dr. Bronners dries my skin out like crazy, but my SO loves it though. I like it for cleaning the loo.

jsut saw this..a few yrs later:). I tried water bathing only for 3 days, no deo..stayed home. I smelled really bad, I could smell myself. Any idea how long it takes for the smell to go away. When I changed to many natural/unscented items, I smelled a few days.
