Is it possible that bananas are making me bloated? I've only been eating 100% raw for 2 days so I'm not ready to blame the bananas just yet but I feel so bad after I eat one.

LaTisha... aloooha girl! You might get a better response if you post in the general question area....

here you have mostly new people introducing themselves so if you're wanting some of the more experienced rawbies to give your their 'sage' opinion ;) ... most of them hang out in the general discussion area or some of the other areas like - Personal Growth -- or recipe section...

but as far as your question - ya know - b4 I went raw I had difficulty eating bananas - I would get all bloaty and even get tummy aches. But weird thing is now that I'm raw -- bananas are one of the only fruits I can eat and feel okay....

but I am eating a local organic variety called 'applebanana'... it's wonderful and growing right here in our yard (thankfully!)

I'm interested to see what responses you get from some of the more knowledgeable rawbies... cuz I think this is an interesting question...

GREAT POST !!!

Bloating is not uncommon during the transitional phase, so just hang in there. Also, make sure your bananas are really ripe - they are so much easier to digest. ~ Cathy

Me too. I recently started eating bananas again (for green smoothies) and was so bloated and constipated over the past few days. I just use one, so its not like I'm going overboard. They were very ripe so that wasn't the problem. I did have a banana and related latex allergy. I don't break out anymore from bananas since I cut all latex products out of my life for quite some time, but bananas don't agree with me.

Today I made a green smoothie w/o them and I am doing just fine.

Ripe as in brown? I usually avoid those! lol But if it'll help with the digesting, I'll get over it :) I really like bananas and they are easier to munch on while I'm at my desk at work.

I accidentally posted over here, I thought I was in the general discussion area, I think I reposted my question over there too. applebananas sound good.

Speaking for what works and dosn't for me I have found that bananas are one food I have to pay attention to food combining principals or I get very uncomfortable. I don't know if its the same for everybody but it is that way for me.

If there's any green on them, even on the ends, they're not ripe yet.

This IS the general discussion area. Was this thread moved or something?

I can only tolerate organic bananas. When I have tried to eat non-organic ones in the past, I get heartburn and bloating - have you tried organic?

Nope, I haven't tried organic yet so I'll do that. And I dont think they were completely ripe so I'll make sure I pay attention to that. I'm taking a banana break for awhile (which sucks cause I was hoping to use some in my green smoothie) and will try them again to see what happens.

Yeah, it was moved. I thought I was in the general discussion area but was in the introduce yourself area. I posted this message again over here but I think that was deleted and this one was moved :) The moderators over here are good!

And apparently quick!

For me, it doesnt matter if they are organic or not (though I only buy organic), it still gives me problems too. See if you can deal with 1/2 a banana. Even half can make a green smoothie more tolerable.
