Hi Everyone! I wanted to introduce myself before I started posting randomly :)
I am very excited to be starting raw again. I went raw for a few months twice before...always felt great but my digestion was really suffering from it. I needed gut healing first I think. Well I did a 3 week cleanse and really only wanted raw foods when I was done so I figured I would throw myself in once again. I think this time is the right time in my life...so I am super excited. :D
I live in Portland and would love to meet up with anyone who wanted to chat or have a raw buddy online at least....my husband is REALLY sick of hearing me talking about all of this but atleast he is supportive. So hello! I hope to be around a long time....Have a great day everyone!!!

Welcome! You've come to the right place, that's for sure.
Tell hubby he'll reap from all your energy!!!
::winking::
Have fun with your raw journey.
Do you have Alissa's book and DVD? Powerful tools for one going raw. Trust me. I have almost every raw book out there. They are all good in their various ways, BUT Alissa's is THE best.

I'm new to this site, and new to raw food. I've been eating mostly raw for about 3 weeks now. I've already lost 5 lbs, and I have at least another 35 to go. But I'm mostly in this for overall health. I want all the benefits of this lifestyle. My entire life is in a state of flux, and I'm finding that raw eating is the underpinning that is essential to keeping myself grounded in the midst of chaos.

Just wanted to say Welcome, and enjoy this board!!!
If you can get your hands on Alissa's book, the recipes are amazing and so is her enthusiasm. The people on this board are just a LITTLE enthusiastic too! :p

I'm thinking of relocating to Portland, but I've never been there. Any tips and opinions?
I'm looking for a place outside of the city that's close by but smaller.
How raw-friendly is Portland? Vegetarian-friendly? Liberal? How's the weather? What are common foods at the farmer's market(s)? What kind of foods are grown there?
Thanks :) I've never been on the west coast except once to Santa Barbara. Would love to know more.

Hi- Welcome!
I live three hours south of Portland on the coast in Florence but I'm looking to relocate to Portland. I'm excited to move to such a progressive city and am in the process of searching for a job up there. I'm targeting the south-east area. My boyfriend is an acupuncturist there and open-minded about the raw vegan lifestyle and eager to try some of the recipes I prepare. He's overweight and the traditional Chinese medicinal nutritional approach of food is working for him.
I'm interested in learning of any raw food potlucks in the area. It's so important to immerse myself in the environment to keep my momentum going eating raw. I stopped by the People's Co-op for the first time and loved their selection of specialty raw products, not to mention the beautiful produce department.
