I'm new to the whole raw world. Right now, I'm basically doing all the research that I can in order to better prepare myself. But there are so many foreign things in this diet. I've always considered myself to be a health nut, but I've never heard of maca, spirulina, hemp seeds, or blue green algae. Are all of these things worth all of the hype?! And how much of these things do I need? How often should they be taken? Any information on blue green algae, spirulina, and/or maca would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there! I take the spirulina, maca, and flax meal daily. I truly believe it has helped heal my thyroid (read my testimony below).

TRUST ME: invest in the maca It helps out in soooooo many wonderful ways. You just have to experience it.

I have been curious about the blue-green algae myself.

This web site answers a lot of questions. Mine was what was the difference between blue/green algae, spirulina, and chlorella...

Well, I learned a lot today! I'd like to try it but all of the bluegreen algae is so expensive! I could not find prices at the web site. Wonder where everyone gets their's (is that how you spell that??)

Working on that. Maybe won't have an answer for a bit, but I'll be back...

Okay, sorry, we now officially hi-jacked this thread. Darn - sorry, but YES to OP, it's worth it - the blue/green algae. In fact I will probably add this to my green smoothies soon.

blue green algae is not about a "hype".
This is maybe the for longest time available food in the world, even before we where on earth.

do you think this stuff would be sold at GNC, or a vitamin store?
is it all in pill form?

Check out Vitaminshoppe.com. They have really decent prices. Greens Plus is a great way to get ALL the green algae you need. A big container is about $30-34 and lasts for a long time.

Just a quick warning to those who may not notice (and who care,) the Greens Plus has Royal Jelly in it, so it's not vegan-friendly.

I have wondered same thing, as well as wondering if ALOT of other supplements or superfoods or just certain food is all worth all the hype or not. If ya do a search for anything online you can come up with pros and cons for anything it seems! I know, I do it almost everyday, checking out if I should buy or try something. My only conclusion is to take a chance, spend the perhaps huge price and see how things work for you. I don't put alot into any study done on something, one has to see how it works for self. My ongoing question is how long to give a product to see if it actually does work for me, so many factors can contribute to a good bad or nothing at all result. There is much thought that just 100% raw is all we need to be and feel well.
Not much help I know! Right now I am waiting to see if maca and chlorella does anything for me, so far nothing, been about a month. Then again I am not 100% raw.

As a skeptic, I highly recommend crystal manna if you can find and afford it. It's one of the few supplemental foods (along with maca and chocolate) that I find make an almost immediate impact on the way I feel--much more so than other blue-green algae products I've tried. The price seems to be about the same everywhere, but I usually buy from naturalzing.com.

That being said, I have found that it took me quite a while being all raw (like 6+ months) before I could really feel effects from so-called "superfoods"--so maybe I just found Crystal Manna at the time my body was ready for blue-green algae. But every body is different, so do what works for you.
