I was making the kids a smoothie this morning and was cutting off the green tops. Have you ever tried adding the green tops to the smoothies? I would try it out and see but I was afraid it might turn it bitter. Don't want to ruin a whole batch of smoothie if someone else can share her/his experience.
I wonder if the green tops have any nutritional benefit.
Thanks.

Though I never really blend strawberries, I do occasionally eat the strawberry greens when just eating them plain. They don't taste all that bitter to me, so I can't imagine how they could ruin a smoothie.

Guess it would have been smart of me to actually TASTE the greens before asking about them being bitter. *duh* OK, I'll try tossing them in the bledner with everything next time. Supposedly the seeds have a lot to offer and the best way to get that is by blending in a high power blender. Don't know...just passing along the info. It's from a copy of some seminar notes from Dr Tom Wu.

Yes, they are edible. I eat them almost everyday in my smoothie and I'm still alive.:p
