I have been craving sweet potatos and grilled egplant. Unfortunately, neither of them are raw. Is this a craving saying I need some mineral or something, or is it a cooked food problem? I could eat 2-3 sweet potatoes at a sitting and still want more for the next meals!
Any ideas? tia

Who knows why our bodies come up with these cravings. Try the eggplant bacon - good stuff. And sweet potato chips. Another good food...
Oh and of course - GREEN SMOOTHIES take cravings away...

How about making sweet potatoe chips, those are so good. Maybe it won't be the same but yummo. I do remember seeing a recipe in Alissa's book for sweet potato I think, I'm not sure I'd have to check.

I have seen a recipe for a raw sweet potato soup! Peel and grate the sweet potato and soak in water overnight. Drain & rinse, then blend with an apple and your choice of seasonings!

I do need to do more green smoothies, I end up not doing them because I don't have enough greens for smoothies and salads.
Also have heard alot of the eggplant bacon, but do not have a dehydrator. Sweet potato chips poses the same problem. Have dried buckwheat groats in the oven on lowest temp, but cannot see leaving the oven for that many hours to dehydrate things.
Does anyone have experience with using oven as dehydrator? How long does it typically take?

You might want to try the Sweet Potato Couscous recipe found here. (http://rawlifestyle.wordpress.com/2007/07/14/sweet-potato-couscous-with-apricots/)
I've been wanting to try it but haven't gotten around to it yet. But anyway it seems easy enough. I'd love to hear how it comes out!

Will try those two ideas, they sound good. Not sure how to do the "chips" without running my oven for that many hours thouhg, so will try the soup first.
It's midnight now, so will update in a few days when I have made it.
Thanks!
