I was wondering if going 100% raw would help with ovarian cyst. I have been battling with this problem for over 10 years, had 4 surgeries (which the last one was in Dec) and now it seems as if the problem is coming back again...
Does anyone have any insight on this.. Any help will be greatly appreciated.. I am tired of the pain & abnormal periods and I just want this to go away so I can live a normal life..
Any advise will be greatly appreciated... :(

Michelle,
Check out this thread: http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=31025
Not sure if you have PCOS but it sounds like you may have PCO if anything.
I have cyst on my ovaries since going Raw I haven't had much pain but I'm not sure if the pain was even from cyst. I'm still trying to discover where my pain stemed from but for now It's pretty much non existant.

What is the difference between PCOS & PCO?

I have a friend that was told he has PCO just the cyst but not the other symptoms that would consider it a Syndrome.
I don't understand the difference because I would think they are all the same but for some reason some people only have cyst and not the other stuff associated with PCOS.
Check out soulcysters.net there is a lot of info on there. I stay on this board most of the time because I believe Raw will help PCOS, but Soulcysters.net has a lot of good info about PCO / PCOS.
Be sure to check out the thread I posted above, hopefully we can help each other get through this.

From Curezone.com:
Put some Castor Oil on a cotton cloth and apply over ovary. Apply heat pad for one hour.
It takes away the pain!

Thank you for your help and I will definetly have to keep in contact with you so we can lick this thing.. I know it can be done... I heard that vitex and evening primrose is suppose to be helpful for this as well.... Also I talked a lady at a healthfood store and she recommended that I throw away all plastic and only use pyrex.. I going to talk to her about raw and see what she says and I be back in touch with you soon...

Hi Everybody,
I have had endometriosis for almost 20 years now...Over the years I have also been dealing with cysts.
Last Christmas, after being rushed to the E.R. I discovered I had 3 cysts on my ovaries. One 2.5 cm. the other was a 8.5 cm. mass (I think that is the size of a grapefruit  ) And the last one had ruptured, causing me to hemorrhage. yikes.
I decided to start eating raw foods. I had already been a vegetarian for almost all my life, but I heard that raw foods were healing ;)
Sooo, to make a long story short....I went raw in hopes to help my cysts and endo. I also started taking Nattokinase...(fermented soy beans called Natto)..NOW mind you this is NOT raw..but I have heard many studies saying that it is an incredible cyst dissolver.
A little over ONE MONTH later I went to my Doctor for more ultra sounds and lab work and found out...My 8.5 mass was GONE! {{POOF!!}} And the other cyst had shrunk to almost nothing! My Doc was baffled. She was amazed and very happy....told me, with a smile and a giggle that unless I developed more problems, I didnt have to see her again until the following year. YAAA!!
Sooo, my advice to you...Go Raw Baby! :D And if you dont mind eating soy products...check into Nattokinase. I know this is a raw board..but I had to share some things that have worked for me :p
Good luck and many blessing to you,
*Shauna**

Wow!!! now I find that interesting because I heard the exact opposite about Soy but if it worked for you then I will most definitely give it a try because I am truly tired of dealing with this... So are you 100% raw... What other things are you doing that could help me... My DR wants to put me on birth control pills but for some reason my body rejects them... I took them for 2 days and was sick beyond belief for 4 days until the chemicals got out of my system...
Thank you for sharing your experience with me.. It is nice to know that others are concerned. I will keep you posted..

I'm interested as well Shauna. Thanks for sharing.
I first heard about Natto while doing an internet search for cysts and endo. It led me to a site called "Fibrovan"...I think the link is www.fibrovan.com
Fibrovan is dried Natto put into pill form. I was also a little unsure about soy products. However, I heard that as long as the soy was fermented it was okay. I even told this to my Doc, who was also concerned about soy, and he told me as long as it is fermented, that he doesnt see a problem with it and to give it a try. I read into Nattokinase some more on the internet and found that it was discovered by a Doctor at a Chicago Medical Hospital. Everything said about it is extremely positive...so Im pretty stoked. :)
As of now, I dont take Fibrovan...I found that it is pretty expensive...so I chose to use a cheaper brand. :D It has the same about of Natto in it and its an all vegetarian formula. The brand is called "NOW". I got the 100mg pills. (the same as whats in Fibrovan)
Hope this helps. xoxo
Oops...I almost forgot.
I was 100% raw for that first month and 1/2 before visiting my Doctor for the follow up. I have been about 80% raw ever since...doing 100% raw weeks here and there. :)
Eventually, I would love to be 100% raw again. I'm taking it one day at a time...baby steps, ya know. ;)

Nattokinase is totally different from soy products...
"Nattokinase is a potent fibrinolytic enzyme extracted and highly purified from a traditional Japanese food called Natto. Natto is a fermented cheese-like food that has been used in Japan for over 1000 years for its popular taste and as a folk remedy for heart and vascular diseases. Natto is produced by a fermentation process by adding Bacillus natto, a benefical bacteria, to boiled soybeans. The resulting nattokinase enzyme, is produced when Bacillus natto acts on the soybeans. While other soy foods contain enzymes, it is only the natto preparation that contains the specific nattokinase enzyme."

Regarding the birth control pills, most doctors do not know about natural treatments and how to achieve true health - they were only taught how to manage disease symptoms with drugs. In my opinion, nothing good or healthy comes from birth control pills - drugs in general work against the body and cause more health problems down the road and sometimes right away as you have experienced. By the way, you have a very smart body! Would be great if more people would have more 'right away' experiences - would avoid so much suffering.

Wow, is this great information. Thanks.
My daughter has been undiagnosed for over 3 1/2 months with a mysterious problem: loose bowels, pains in stomach/intestine area, burning, hardly eats, lost 20 pounds now and was already slim, did green drink fast, did bentonite, acupuncture with herbs too, blood tests showing possible IBS, scheduled for hospital tests end of month for endometrosis and possible colonscopy.....
She hardly sleeps of course....still searching and passed on to her.
Thanks.

I did a banana search and noticed some discussion about endometriosis (Nani are you still out there?). Anyway, I hope someone can offer some info about any personal experiences with raw and endometriosis. I am terribly worried about my sister. She is only 27 and has had 3 major surgeries to remove the proliferation of cells from her reproductive and other abdominal organs. The last surgery was a year ago and her symptoms are ramping up again. She is so young and would like to have a family one day. My understanding of endo is that it wrecks your ability to conceive.
I have talked to her some before about raw and she wasn't all that jazzed about it. However, those discussions related to weight loss because the methods she has tried haven't worked out for her. Perhaps if I could talk to her about it helping her endo, she would be more open to it. I am so concerned for her quality of life and her immediate and long term health because of the endometriosis.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer any info!
