View Full Version : Fighting detox w/ NoDoze?

I'm starting to hit the initial fatigue of detox and calorie restriction (day 3) but I need to stay awake for work -- no time for sleeping. I'm thinking of taking a nodoze... anyone know if this is a terribly bad idea? It's pretty much pure caffeine, certainly not raw, but I would imagine it has minimal effect on my detoxification. If anyone knows any better, I'd love to find out more.

Are you nut?! You have fun dealing with the detox from that if you do decide to do it. I feel for ya, but that idea just seems seriously counterproductive to me.

Nodoze?!! Yes, it would definitely be counterproductive. Just wondering why you are restricting calories - lack of energy could also be your body's way of telling you that you need more. ~ Cathy

Believe me. I understand fatigue. I have two small, incredibly active little girls (one of whom, no longer naps in the aft. and hasn't for some time) and exhaustion is part of the struggle. I am only on day 9 and I'll tell you, I don't know how I made it through some of those days without the aid of SOMETHING, but I did and I am so glad. Taking anything at all will be so counterproductive, you'll just have to detox one more thing. It is hard (feeling impossible sometimes) but you can do it if it means enough to you. In fact, I had a beer monday night and yesterday was so awful I wanted to die. I have no idea if it was from the beer or not but I am in no hurry to find out. Do your best and take care.

I seem to recall you had the same problem (lack of energy) the last time you transitioned to raw. No? Did you ultimately attain it? If so, then just hang in there because you know that it does get better. ~ Cathy

Bad idea and again, why are you "restricting" calories? You're not doing Alissa's program if you're doing that.

Caffeine and "minimal effect"? Ummm, *keeps mouf shet and gits*

Wow, brings back thoughts of my beating-a-path-to-Starbucks days. If you took it, you would be reallly wide-eyed and probably really nervous too. Sounds like just eating more would be a better idea.

I'm generally eating like a horse but I'm going from 2,000+ calories per day on a 6'2" frame to 1,300 or so I'm getting from raw foods. I literally can't afford to be falling asleep this week, so I really have no choice and no amount of raw food is going to give me the energy I need during week 1 of detox.

I don't know what to say...

are you eating enough fats?

1,300 for a guy your height isn't nearly enough calories. I tried eating 1,200 a day and that left me VERY hungry all the time.

why not try slivers of ginger with cayenne? that'll wake you up! Even add a bit of lemon to it! Or mix up some maca with cacao, some agave and maybe some sunflower seeds.... that's gunna wake you up too!

good luck - I hope you feel better soon!! ;)

1300 a day for your size? Are you doing this consciously?

Suggestion: Green smoothies give most people a rush as caffeine would. Add some nuts to it (add water/liquid, grind nuts first, then add fruit and greens).

Thing is, you sound determined to take the NoDoz sooo, end of story for me here.

Ditto Revvell.

On my job falling asleep was grounds for automatic termination.

EVERYBODY there lived on NoDoz.

I found green smoothies did the trick for me.

StarFire ... this sounds like rocket power. What do you do with the slivers of ginger with cayenne? You just eat them without mixing in anything? And, have you yourself taken it?

What do you say Mike about this idea?

No- Doze is a No- Do.

Perhaps you are dehydrated?

Even if you're not, maybe drinking more water will help you. Lack of water will always make me sleepy.

Water will also flush out the toxins quicker, shortening the detox time, hopefully!

sorry but i'm a 6 footer and have no problem with caloric intake or staying awake.

1 4oz banana = 100 cals
1 tablespoon flaxseed oil = 120 cals
1 tablespoon hemp seed oil = 126 cals
1 tablespoon coconut oil = 117 cals
16oz of orange juice = 223 cals
16oz grape juice = 260 cals
3oz of raw cashews = 470 cals
3oz or raw macadamia nuts = 611 cals
3oz of walnuts = 556 cals
3oz of raw almonds = 496 cals
100g of sun dried tomatoes = 258 cals
100g dates = 277 cals
100g avocado = 167 cals

so 1 drink of mine = 1L orange for 446 cals + 1 Tablespoon of coconut oil for 117 cals = a total of 563 calories for one drink alone

add a cup of avocado for another 384 calories and i have a 947 cals

almost 1000 cals just from one liter of juice and one cup of avocado

i don't know what you mean by eating like a horse but it must be a small horse

No, no, no love. Just start clean vegan eating right away and 100% raw on Friday night. You'll be good to go by Monday morning. :)

NetKaPet... I make like a tea out of it and take it to work every day! Filtered water - drop some slivers of ginger - open one capsule of cayenne pepper (got it at the hfs) ... drop the contents in the water... add the juice of 1 lemon... and wa~la! sometimes I make this for dh -- but he likes a tablespoon of agave in his. It's quite delicious - very filling - wakes up your capilaries... and your body!! (I usually take about 32 ounces of this to work every day), If I'm feeling a bit lethargic in the afternoon - i will make myself another dose of this tea... it's a great boost and helps clear the mind too ;) !

RAWK ON!! :D
