Hi Everyone!

Well, today is my 1 week anniversary for being RAW! I am so excited to tell you that I have lost 10 pounds this week. The even better news is I feel fantastic. I have more energy and feel great. I'm not 100 percent raw, I'm still drinking green tea, 1-2 cups a day and I had 2 lil bites of pizza on Friday but other than that I'm raw and loving it. I thought it would be harder than this and I have been pleasently surprised! If I am hungry I eat. I eat till I'm full. I don't have to count calories or portions which is great! The food is so full of flavor I'm not missing anything! There was one afternoon where I had no energy at all and pretty much stayed on the couch and rested. I figured that was a detox symptom so I went with the flow. I'm surprised I haven't had more detox symptoms, maybe that is still yet to come? Of course, I have spent alot of time in the Bathroom! That is the ultimate detox! LOL

I don't think I could have done this if I hadn't read and watched Alissa's book and video. It's really the video that gave me the courage to move forward and give this a try. The video makes it look so easy to eat raw. Thank you Alissa for that wonderful encouragement. I even have my family eating more raw! What a perk!

Happy Eating Raw!

Hey thank you so much everyone! I just love this message board, everyone is so nice and friendly and supportive!

Ok...I am keeping a journal of what I eat, how much I weigh and how I feel for each day. I eat when I'm hungry and then till I'm full. I try to eat my fruits before lunch. A green spinach salad once a day and also avocado every day. That helps me not have cravings I think because of the good fat in it. The first three days I was really hungry so I ate alot.
My first day I ate an apple, grapes, pineapple, strawberries, green pepper slices, celery slices, Nori rolls, banana chips (not sure what these are actually raw but I need crunch and they are better than potato chips).
The rest of the week I ate fruit and veggies, spinach salads and gazpacho soup(uncooked), nori rolls, and also when I wanted something sweet I made truffles. One day I made fresh squeezed lemonaide and sweetened it with agave....oh what a treat that was!

I'm still exploring how to make dishes and it's nice to know I don't have to get fancy if I don't want to. It takes the pressure off eating. The thing I enjoyed the most about my first week raw is the fact that the food just explodes in my mouth with flavor!! It makes eating raw so much easier!

Thanks again for all your kind words and encouragement!

Big Hugs,
Deni ;)

Hi Deni, congrats on your first week! Sounds like you've gotten a good start.

About detox: It can come and go, depends on the person. I detoxed a lot in my first month, then nothing till my 3rd month when I felt like I was coming down with the flu for a few days. The thing about detox is, when it's over, you "graduate" to a new level of energy and vitality. Pretty cool, huh? :p
