OK, so my daughters 8th birthday party is this weekend and while she and everyone will be having actual vegan cake I do NOT want to be tempted as before I became raw I was a sugar addict. I'd seriously eat (vegan) cookies weekly, it was BAD, BAD, BAD. I've broken this and do NOT want to risk it by eating it because even though I have never been diagnosed diabetic, I know the signs and can honestly say I was borderline and am obease right now.
I do NOT have a dehydrator, I do NOT have a fancy blender. My blender cost $20 at Walmart and is 2 years old, I do have an ancient food processor that can blend frozen fruit into "ice cream" and I also managed to make that fancy cheesecake someone posted on here with it, so, it's my best applience right now.
I DO NOT have Alissa's book, nor do I have time or money to get it right now. I have searched online and in the search forum here. Everything is all about fruit and nuts as far as cake goes that I have found. I do not mind the nuts to use as a crust/base, etc but I NEED a raw chocolate cake recipe that will be as close to ooey, gooey, moist, creamy, chocolatey cake. I'd love one that could be "layered" and a chocolate frosting recipe as well. PLEASE! I have searched and searched and cannot find anything that seems to sound right.
So, can anyone please help me? We have 5 kids and 2 of them will also be having a shared birthday party as well in just 3 weeks after this one!!! All this temptation!!!
PLEASE: I am low on money too so if I can get a recipe that doesn't require expensive and hard to find things that'd be great. I have no way of getting cocoa butter and other things I have seen on here that I have never even heard of or seen even at the health food store that carries "everything". Thanks!

Well, I'm not quite the kitchen prince, but here's what I would do:
1) Base: Throw a variety of nuts into the food processor to cut them up (or in your blender if it's powerful enough). Add soaked raisins and/or dates to bind the cut up nuts together. You can also add agave nectar or honey for this. Put this mixture in the cake bowl for the base. Put in refrigerator for a while.
2) Filling: This is the tricky part. I would think it's best to combine coconut oil (pretty expensive), raw cacao powder and some kind of fruit(s) like bananas. Make this mixture in your blender (with a little water or orange juice or lemon juice to get it started), taste test, then pour it over the base in the bowl, and freeze it for several hours. The coconut oil will become hard. Then put it in fridge. Now it will soften a little but still remain solid.
3) Topping: Just add some strawberries or cherries or whatever you like.
That should do it, more or less. My food processor the other day or I would go and make one right now. ;)

Raw Chocolate Cake
From Jinjee's Newsletter comes this raw chocloate cake recipe. Enjoy!
Raw Vegan Chocolate Cake (its really raw carob, not raw chocolate, shhhh)
*** I used raw cocoa powder--Jan***
Grind up 1 cup of raw organic almonds (don’t soak them) in the blender on high for about one minute until they are a fine powder. (Best is the Vitamix blender, using the pummel to push the nuts down as you blend)
Keep grinding until they start to get a little doughy due to the oils being released
Add 2 tablespoons of raw carob powder
Add 1 and a half tablespoons of raw unfiltered honey
Continue to blend (and push with pummel if available) for one minute.
Use a spatula to remove from blender and roll mixture into balls or form into a piece of cake. Enjoy a little bit now, and a little bit later! It may be a bit warm from all the blending. That’s OK! Its not cooked if its under 105 degrees which it will be well under! This recipe can keep in the fridge for a week!
I swear to you this is the best chocolate cake I have ever ever ever tasted!!! I feel like a confectioner when I’m making this. Honestly, this is what cooked chocolate cake wishes it could taste like!
- and for that guy who said he wanted to see pictures of us smiling, there’s now one up on the front page at http://www.thegardendiet.com from our Los Angeles film premiere – thanks for the thought!

Thanks! I actually keep coconut oil around to make fudge. Like I said, I am a chocolate addict! If I could even afford/find raw cocoa butter and some other chocolatey things, I'd be set!

This reminds meof the puddings I make for the kids. I may do this as a layer or something. Sounds good. :)

I would go with a a cinnamon bun recipe and add carob or cocoa to it to make it taste like chocolate because the cinnamon recipe, seriously is SOLID! and you can cut it in half to put filling between and although it might end up costing you enarly $20 in ingredients to make a huge cake, I think it would be a BIG hit and it would stay together and not fall apart! Layer it with the chocolate brownie recipe. OH WOW! I should so do this! My sons b-day is on sept 11

Here's your frosting recipe. It's called Chocolate Ganache from Raw Food Real World and it's awesome! I make it and keep it in a container in the fridge to have a spoonful now and then. Way beyond delicious!
1/2 c cocoa powder
1/2 c honey or agave or maple syrup (I use raw agave)
1/4 c extra virigin coconut oil/butter
Blend everything in the blender til very smooth. Refrigerate.
Couldn't be easier. Right?

Belle: yes it is very chocolaty. If you can manage to let it sit overnight the chocolate flavor is more intense!!
*Also if you had a tablespoon or 2 to the filling it makes it firm up more
