View Full Version : dining out
Could someone please give me suggestions on the best salad dressing to order when eating at a restaurant? I have a lunch meeting with clients tomorrow, so it will not be appropriate for me to have my own dressing. I have been 100% raw for 3 weeks now, still a newbie, and I do not want that to change because of having to dine out. PLease advise. Thanks. cja

I have a friend who just asks for lemon slices and some olive oil then squeezes the lemons on the salad and sprinkles the oil. Or you could bring your own. :)

I began with asking for slices of lemon and oil. Now, if I know I'm going out to eat I take a little small tupperware of my own made dressing. You could also ask for a slice of avocado (if they have avos) and mix avo with lemon juice and oil or just leave the oil out. I've done these things and been very happy with results.
Hope this helps.

NO salad dressing you get from a restaurant is going to be fresh & raw. If you won't/cannot bring your own....then I would certainly go with the lemon juice.

just leave the salad dressing off and eat it plain OR even better is to bring two large ripe avocados with you (or maybe they have them ?) and put them over the salad as a fresh avocado dressing.
I know this isn't technically raw but a lot of restaurants will have balsamic vinegar and olive oil. I will sometimes opt for this option as it is a lesser of evils. Sometimes you just have to do the best you can when you are in special circumstances.

I bring my own...also a little container of seeds, dried cranberries and some chopped apple...dresses up any salad and makes it a celebration instead of...
oh crap, that's all I can get!!
