Who here likes fermented foods? Im trying to incorporate more into my diet. I loove Synergy Kombucha. I love the strong taste and it makes me relaxed, settles my stomach and really helps clean out the intestines. I want to try to eat some other fermented things but im wondering what else there is out there. I bought Ani Phyo's cookbook and there is a recipe in there for raw vegan yogurt that i might try.

and, anyone know where i can buy the stuff to make my own kombucha? I want to be able to drink it every day!

kombucha gets me drunk lol. as for yogurt blend some coconut meat, coco water, nuts (i like macadamia and cashew.... but some would go for almonds) soaked prefereably... put them in a sterilized glass jar with a scoop of some sort of probiotic (i just use rejuvelac), cover with a cheese cloth and voila! next day you got urself some yoga. then use some of your yogurt from the last batch as your activator in the next batch. supposedly it gets better every time ( i wouldnt know as i just eat it all when i make it lol)

yeah kombucha makes me feel nice. i wouldn't say drunk bc i dont feel stupid and overly giddy and loud like i did when i used to drink but i feel more expansive and calmer.

I used to make kombucha tea. I got a "kombucha Mushroom" (or culture) from a friend and put it in a jar with some brown sugar and soon I had tea and also the mushroom had a baby mushroom and so I started two batches the next time. Soon I had Kombucha tea everywhere. One day I went to work after I had just finished a big snort of the stuff and I was taken into the office and asked if I had been drinking booze. I said I hadn't and they said they could smell the alcohol on my breath. I told them about the tea and that I would check it out and they said OK and gave me a warning not to ever drink it before work again. That was the last time I ever drank it. Apparenthly kombucha has alcohol in it.

Well i have a bottle of synergy kombucha and it says it has a trace amount of alcohol due to the fermentation process (.05%). I certainly dont get drunk from it, but there is a mild mild euphoric feeling.

i feel so good from it (curbs cravings, settles stomach, good digestion, etc) and ive read so much good about it that i dont plan on stopping drinking it. it may have a very small amount of alcohol but thats fine. i dont drink regular "booze" anyway.

I agree that it dosn't have much alcohol in. I was completely taken by supise at work that day because I hadn't noticed any smell or indicators that would have alerted me.

About a half gallon everyday. I stored it in the same 1 gallon glass jars I was making it in and when harvested I would take the mushroom out and put the jar in the refrigerator so it was cold and ready to drink some anytime I wanted some. I started a fresh batch everytime I harvested. Making Kombucha tea at home is very inexpensive as the only ingredients are: 1 gallon of water and a cup of brown sugar

Kombucha is said to have a potentially negative antibiotic effect if taken regularly. It can kill off good flora in the intestinal track. I don't know if this has been proven to be completely true, but it might warrant some caution.

I recently had organic kefir. I don't know if its raw but apparently its really good for you..and when I tried it I was like WOW.. Strong!! Then I asked my spouse to try it and with the most blank expression he says " That tastes like a sock"
lol. It turned me off completely. I "tried" to eat it but after the 4th spoonful, I just couldn't do it.
