Hi everyone, I've been lurking a bit and now it's time to say "hello". I'm a newbie raw foodie. Earlier this year for health reasons I weened myself off soda and coffee. THAT temptation is gone. Next, I've lowered my sugar intake and other carbs. I've been increasing fruits and veggies and nuts here and there not even realizing that these were how the raw diet works.

I first heard about raw a couple years ago, when I met a grandmother of a daughter's friend. She had been eating raw and was beautiful. Vibrant, slim...not like the stereotypical grandmother. I asked her a bit about it, but didn't really "get it" at the time. Still, she planted a seed.

As this year has progressed (my 40th btw) I'm ready to take the next step and go 100% raw. I've been trying raw 75% and am doing okay, but not seeing results weight loss wise.

So yesterday, I tried 100% raw and blew it. There were temptations in the fridge and I succumbed. AND, not enough raw food in the house.

Went shopping and loaded up on fresh produce and today's another day.

I desire the "glow", strength, energy, and a slender active body.

Any advice is definately welcome. I'll post my food challenge topic in the discussion area. Things I'm concerned about are food boredom (eating the same thing), I don't like AVO, and I like like warm tomatos (chili, pizza sauce, spaghetti sauce, and tom. soup).

Have a beautiful day!

Hey! Welcome. Do you have Alissa's book and DVD? Powerful tools to help on one's raw journey.

Also two words:

Green Smoothies

Victoria Boutenko's book 12 Steps to Raw has some great advice about how to deal w/temptations and cravings for cooked food. She also gives scientifically based info that will make you wish you'd never even eaten anything cooked!

Plus she explains the benefits of Veganforlife's much-loved green smoothies. They really do help you overcome cravings--I testify along with her!

Anyway, you're right, today's another day, and eating 75% raw is way better than the way most Americans eat by a long shot. You'll get there! :)

Hi! I was here quite a while before finally posting too! Glad we're on this journey together. The seed was planted for me 14 months ago, and now I'm finally 100% raw!!! It's day 9 for my hubby & I. You'll do great now that you stocked up on raw food! The green smoothies are a must, I agree! And I really need Alissa's dvd and book too. We are suffering from a little lack of variety here. :o As soon as I get those I know we'll be enjoying lots of different dishes!:D

Thanks for the welcomes everyone!

It's so good to have found a place with others who are new to raw and those who have been raw and know the in's and outs. I'm so happy to be here!

Welcome!

I agree, Alissa's book and green smoothies are awesome. As far as the tomato products go, the marinara sauce is beyond amazing, and the raw pizza is yummy too.

Welcome you lurker you!

And you CAN have warm tomato stuff. There are raw pizzas (I have one in the dehydrator right now), raw spaghetti, and raw tomato soup! You can do searches on this board for a fantastic chili recipe and I have heard that there is a delicious creamy tomato soup recipe around here.

Do get Alissa's Living on Live Food book and DVD. They are so helpful. I made a "tuna" recipe from there tonight that was awesome. (there wasn't really any tuna in it;) )
