I know for those who've had chronic migraines, raw tends to be the overall cure. But what about those of us whose migraines are not diet related?

I rarely had headaches or migraines. In the past, I only got them when I ate something with MSG. That was easy enough to stay away from so it only happened twice.

Last last week what was supposed to be a mini vacation turned into a nightmare when the house we were staying in was poisoned with fabric softener. We never use scented detergents or fabric softeners (environmental/people friendly household products only) so this was a shock - not something we think about in the past especially since we've stayed in hotels and rentals often w/o issues in the past.

I don't use artificial perfumes because of sensitivities, but my symptoms were never extreme. We both were in misery; SO with respiratory and digestive issues and I end up having a migraine for 36 hours which is a record. I tried, lots and lots of water, eating, not eating, sleeping, green smoothies, essential oils (that made the most difference), green juice, more water and the only thing that helped was 3 glasses of organic Pinot Grigio. Three glasses of white wine and they were gone for good (and my sinus were clear again). Espresso helped in the past, but my stomach cant deal with it and I didnt have nut milk to drink as a buffer.

What are some (other) natural cures for migraines? Obviously raw is not a protection against them, so I need to know something else I can take since I wont be able to drink in every situation (driving, work, etc).

Well, my advice will not work at home or while driving... It is enemas. I was raw for a few months and still got migraines. Then I did enemas for a few weeks almost everyday and they vanished. Then I slipped back to cooked and they came back. Now I am back to raw and hope to get rid of them again.

You can also get hormone related migraines at the TOM, as serotonin levels drop then. Many women suffer from this and often confuse it for a chocolate/carbohydrate reaction, which of course the body craves at that time.

Yes the wine does sometimes help as it relaxes the blood vessels, other treatments include bananas, daily for non raw, migraleve tablets (I don't use them) or 5 HTP tablets (plant based) which helps restore serotonin levels.
Some people also find coffee helpful, others not. My mother swears by camomile tea.

I find 5HTP also works on non TOM migraines.

Water too is a wonderful healer for headaches. Also, rubbing lavendar oil on the temples has been known to help.
Feverfew is also a known headache/migraine reliever.

Peppermint essential oil.

Thanks everyone. I did try lavender, peppermint, eucliptius and another oil and the results were minimum and temporary. I drank water, water, water as well.

I never had chronic migraines so I'm not sure if its really preventable (besides living in a bubble) since it was triggered by chemicals. Ill look into 5 HTP as being an immediate treatment.

I havent thought about enemas yet, but I am getting a colonic in the next few weeks.
