View Full Version : More women than men into raw foods?
Is it me, or are there more women than men on this board?
Are women more health conscious in general? Maybe weight conscious too? Maybe more sensitive, so they experience more bloating and other food related problems, thus looking for solutions?
Or do men just post less (they say women talk more in general, now don't they)? Just wondering...
This is my experience: most of the people I know, aren't really health conscious. And the people who are, are usually women. I remember once, some people were having a fruit salad with dairy áfter dinner (talk about bad food combining!). The day after that, some of them, women, said the fruit salad etcetera had given them huge stomach problems that night. I was already eating raw at the moment, doing proper food combining etcetera and one of the women and I were talking, and she said she knew about proper food combining, and usually has lots of stomach aches and ignores it, and about fruit being rapidly digested, so better not combine it with other stuff etc. And one guy, who heard that, didn't know what we were talking about. We explained it to him, but he just went: 'Huh?' He never had ány digesting problems in his life! That made us jealous . And I know more men who don't and seem to have guts of steel.

Well, I'm not a guy so I wouldn't know and I hate to generalize, but this is my opinion. As for the emotional aspect, women are more intuitive to other's feelings and I can see how that can transfer to animals as well. They're born more as care-takers, nuturers, etc. and I can see why they may be more into health. Men, on the other hand, may see eating meat as "macho" and such a guy thing to do ya know? In the past the males did the hunting and killed the animals while the women worked in the garden.

Is it true that men don't have as many digestive issues? My ex said he had never been bloated. Thats a major issues for me!

lol yeah, makes for a nice ratio ;) it's too bad raw foodists are few and far between
Men (in my experience) aren't as apt to look for support, even if they need it. It's a lot like asking for directions .. *G*
I know that even if my brother were to go raw he wouldn't ever join a board like this.
I think they exist, they just tend to be more in-person people. Like you'd find them at gatherings and events but probably not forums so much. :)

They are probably just lurking around here on this board, but they are too macho to share their feelings! Or to think they may need to change or improve on anything. At least, my husband would not be here . . . but he certainly is interested in what I am learning and trying to do FOR him ! ! !

Ha Ha I am glad that some guys showed up on this thread!
My husband "needs" his meat. Just today he is telling me once again that he is getting weak because I have not fed him enough meat. (Why I really want to try some nutbased burgers to try to satisfy his craving and avoid further heart surgery.)
I have seen that there are lots of guys on other boards but they are not as big as this board.
Also seen lots of guys doing raw paleo diet which is just a big yech to me.
I forgot to say that womens body balance seems much more fragile and I have been told that in pioneer days the life was so hard that women died quite often and that was why men ended up having 2nd and 3rd wives.
Women go to doctors more too. Perhaps our old knowledge that kept us healthy has been lost?

That is funny, because in some magazine they said that there are more raw food men than women.

There are raw guys on other boards. This place might just be too girlly for them here. :D

Well count me as one of the enlightened guys who enjoys RFT. I don't think this forum is any more 'girly' than any other, it could just be that more women have picked up Alyssa's book and therefore been drawn to the forum, as her book may be slightly more targeted to women than men.

I agree with Tali, women tend to look for more support than men.
The few men I know who are raw foodists tend to be (to me) more "hard core" and strict with raw. Fruit only, 80-10-10 diets and so on. They seem to already have it together and spend less time on the boards.

Hey, I'm a guy too! :)
I like reading these forums in the morning because it puts my head in the raw mindset for the rest of the day.
Although sometimes I find myself shaking my head at some of the female posters here, thinking: "Why oh why are you making such a problem out of this?" It seems like a lot of "you" like to complicate your lives just for the sake of complicating your lives. Women... :D

Moet ik het mee eens zijn, I mean, gotta agree with you here!
I've noticed men usually are more practical. If they decide to do something, they usually just do it, no need to talk or think about it much. Or post about it on some board. And usually not much talk about how they fail or feel, skin- and haircare, natural birth control, periods and pregnancies either... Hehehe... Men... :)!

if the subject hasnt been touched up on before, or if it is just a personal issue that i would like some help on, i will post, but a lot of times the stuff that the women post on here is stuff that they seemingly already know the answer to but just want to personalize it (for whatever reason. i dont know whtat it is..)
i have no problem talking about my feelings and such, and sometimes i do post about them, for instance last night i prematurely broke my first fast and i was super bummed and dissapointed and i just felt the need to "talk"... but thats kinda rare
i usually just offer my opinions and help on the forums, and for the rest of the time just let you women do all the talking lol. someones gotta do it right..
and i agree with rawcutter.. this is less competition for us predatory males haha:D

Hey y'all.
Well, whatever. All I can say is, I like rawfood guys. The ones who do post here sure do seem more conscious and sensitive than the male carnivores of the world. I think maybe eating animal meat makes men more aggressive. Too many hormones...
