I was wondering if anyone includes raw canned tuna/salmon in their diet. Canned tuna/salmon comes in organic or whatever the variety is that has limited mercury content. Great source of protein.

As a bodybuilder, I need the protein and am wondering how I can get such a big heap of protein from raw. A serving of nuts big enough to yield 25 g or protein would also be about 900 calories.

Currently, my 20 percent cooked includes chicken, turkey, egg whites, lentils and organic whole grain bread -- yes, I know, that's on the hit list for most of you, but it's tough to go above 80 percent raw.

Hi there!

Well, because this is a raw vegan/vegetarian forum, we don't get into discussions advocating fish/meat, dairy or eggs.

But you may wish to check out our Exercise forum as there are raw body builders who do not incorporate those items and do very well. http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/search.php?searchid=261630

Also, it's important to understand that we really get protein from amino acids and a great source is dark, green leafy vegetables:

Not to further a thread about meat or dairy, which is not advocated in these forums - but canned foods are never raw, are they?

Nope. Anything canned is not raw.

and you could eat the lentils raw and sprouted.
During world war 2 when food was rationed, and feeding the people of Britain enough was a problem, and there wasn't enough meat for everyone, the goverment called a group of scientists to work out what the best source of protein was, and their answer was bean sprouts.

Try Anne Wigmores energy soup (it tastes disgusting but really is a miracle food);-

6 cups greens - sunflower greens, or 5-day-old-baby-green-sprouts, or wild weeds
2 cups bean sprouts
2 tbs dulse
1/2 avocado
1 apple or 1/2 papaya or 2 cups watermelon

I have to add more fruit to make it palatable - bananas/oranges/apples.
