I am so clueless when it comesa to soaking and sprouting. Have actually tried it before but think I ruined it. I don't have any real equipement so I just used a thinned out old kitchen towel and a canning jar to sprout before. Seemed like there was way too much water.

Anyway, i have some buckwheat groats and I really want to make some grawnola! I have searched, using the banana, and found loads of recipes, but it has me so dizzy I can't keep it all straight.

The ingredients I would love to use are:
buckwheat groats
cocout
any type nuts/seeds
dried fruit
maybe agave or honey for sweetener if needed

I am about to head to bed (nightime now in singapore), and would love to have some things soaking overnight if I can figure out what to do, and not ruin it!
Can someone please spell it out simply to me?? PRETTY PLEASE?
I also don't have a dehydrator, so will be using my oven, hopefully this is okay.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Anyone?
The main thing I don't understand is, for grawnola, can they just be soaked (groats) or need to be sprouted? What are the differences with sproutign vs soaking? Why would you do one vs the other?
Can I soak things together (ie:almonds and sunflower seeds)

Hope this isn't too silly of a question, my brain just can't wrap itself around this for some reason. Thanks again!

Soak your buckwheat overnight, rinse in the a.m. Rinse periodically during the day if you can, if not no biggie just rinse when you can. They should start to sprout in about 24 hours. I don't use anything other than a cereal bowl and a kitchen towel. Buckwheat are my favorite for everything and they sprout fast! :) I find that not everything sprouts (almonds for example) and I only tend to soak them if I am doing a pie crust. I soak things together all the time. Today, in fact, I soaked sun dried tomatoes and dates together for marinara sauce and then watered my herbs with the soak water (we don't like to waste ;) ). I've heard of people using their oven for dehydrating... my oven temp won't go low enough and I am lucky enough to have a dehydrator so GOOD LUCK and NO WORRIES!! Take care....
