Do you think it's possible that by the choices we make that we can die before our time? I've been wondering about this and maybe no one knows but I just wonder if we go down the wrong path will it end our life faster then it would have if we went down another?

or could it be that we will just suffer until it's our time to go if we went down a not so good path, lets just say bad eating habits.

Could we change our bad habits for better ones and perhaps live longer then we would have if we kept going down the wrong path.

Do you really think changing our eating habit will make a difference in when we die?

This is not meant to be a religon topic but we all know we must die one day so just trying to get your thoughts.

If you believe that your time and place and way to die is already set in stone then apparently everything must be preordained and there is no such thing as free will. So then it doesn't really matter if you "fall off the raw wagon" once in a while because it's not your fault anyway. That can be useful to believe, but I don't like the idea that some people are "supposed to" get sick and suffer before they die. In other words: I do believe in free will.

Note, however, that nothing you believe is in itself true. It only becomes true because you believe it. From this point of view, it makes sense to believe whatever gives you the most benefit. Therefore, I choose to believe that I am directly and 100% responsible for my life, that I can extend my life by eating and living in a healthy way, and that it's possible for me to die of old age in perfect health. And that if I don't live healthily, my death will come a lot quicker and will be a lot more painful. (Incidently, I also believe that death isn't something to fear and that it's perfectly natural to die -- provided you die perfectly naturally. :))

I totally agree with you Rawzeit.

I've always believed that we have free will and our choices affect us and our life, but I just recently heard someone say no you will die when it's time it's just a matter of will you suffer all the way to your death.

I have had someone tell me, why change your diet, your going to die anyway and I couldn't believe that came out of they're mouth. I couldn't believe that they actually feel that we should keep down a path that is not good instead of try to go down a path that is better. Some people beleive that we shouldn't change and I really feel sorry for them.

In some form or fashion I think we can live wonderful lives, maybe not perfect and without failure or downfalls but better then drinking liquor and smoking cigarettes all day when we know it isn't doing us any good.

I think that there are different truths for different people.

I remember meeting a 90 year old woman who was still smoking and she said that there was no way she was going to give it up as she had gotten much relief-release from it.

But I remember a co-worker who could not quit smoking and in her 60's she had to come in to work in a wheelchair with breathing equipment and shortly later she died.

Some people are going to survive no matter what and others are just alot more sensitive.

I guess we all all unique in our own way and what work for others may not work for us.

As you mentioned about the lady that was 90 and smoking, I've seen a couple of people like that myself. Sometimes I do wonder why some people can survive for a long period of time being an alcholic and some people don't.

Maybe Raw Vegan isn't for everyone. I do perhaps beleive it is for me. I guess that is why connecting with ourselves and knowing ourselves will help us know what is good and what is not good for us.

I believe most everything wrong in the health department is caused by a nutritional deficiency/ bad choices. Smoking being a bad choice. Actually, breathing anything other than air into your lungs is a bad choice. (Yet people still do hookah? Oyyy)

I believe that Adam and Eve probably wouldn't even CONSIDER eating another animal, and that the human race is intended to be vegan. You don't look at a cow and have a desire to run over and bite into it, like you would an apple.

I think optimally we're meant to all be vegan fruit and veggie-avores, and if wayyy down the genetic line others hadn't gone other ways....we'd all be healthier. I think we can make our lives longer than average NOW, but I don't know if we'll ever evolve back in the other direction, and be able to live 300-400 years.

I have no "beliefs" as such yet, I feel we all die in our own time ~ whatever that may be ~ or we wouldn't be dead.

We Do die when it's our time, but "our time" can ultimately be our choice. No we don't say "I want to die on july 1st," but if you chose to do drugs, drink constnatly, smoke like a chimney, and eat only SAD crap, then you most likely will live a miserable, ill, short life. If you chose to eat all raw (organic if possible) foods, use natural products and got rid of as many chemicals as possible, exercised, drank a lot of pure water, practiced meditation, etc. then I'm sure you'd like a MUCH healthier, happier, and longer life.

This is an interesting article about the causes of illnesses, diseases, and disorders...

http://curezone.com/diseases/cause.asp

Regarding the people who used to live into their 90's smoking and eating bad foods, I believe this would be very hard to find in the generations since. That generation was born before processed foods, fast foods, chemicals, vaccinations, etc. They did not have to deal with all the toxins/stress we are exposed to today. And, they were handed down genes from parents/grandparents who were not exposed to these toxins/stress and processed foods.

The Pottenger Study (on cats) that was done many years ago showed how each generation passes on weaker/sicker genes if not living a healthy lifestyle. Every generation gets chronic diseases earlier and earlier in life. This appears to be true in humans, as diseases that were once considered my parent's age diseases (late 60's/early 70's) is now being routinely diagnosed in 40's/50's, and the generation that are now children are being diagnosed with these old age diseases. Adult onset diabetes is an epidemic in children now - they are going to have to change the name!

I had to chime in on this. Truth doesn't depend on anyone believing it. It's true even if everyone on the planet believes something totally different.

Smoking and eating poor food is always bad. Some people are simply born with stronger constitutions. Their bodies can take more abuse, or can take forms of abuse that others can't. Perhaps they are weak in other areas, but regardless, some people will be born weak, some will be born strong. The strong may seem to do well even living intemperately, but they will always have even done better to lived temperately. Whether or not a person can die before their time, well that's a loaded question. If there is such thing as "their time," then no. For if you die before "your time", then it was never your time to begin with to die any later than when you actually died. If our destinies are fixed, which I think is impossible to know, then you can do nothing to change when you were going to die. But you can look at it this way. It's not as if you can do anything you want without concern as your time of death is set. It's more like your actions have already been factored into determining your time of death, even before you were born. So if you are a glutton, smoke, drink, do other drugs, it's not as if you're cheating death. If we do indeed have a destiny, then not only was our time of death set, but so were those detrimental activities we engaged in and thus factored into our time of death.

Whether or not we have free will, I don't think we can really answer that question. From the perspective of physics, it doesn't seem like it, as every thought, even physical actions is a result of chemical interactions in our brain, all of which were caused by preceeding chemical and atomic interactions. From that perspective the fate of every bit of the entire universe was determined from the start. Every action to take place could have been predicted. Then again there seems to be some ambiguity when you get into quantum physics, such that physical laws start to get fuzzy. Maybe that's where free will gets in. Somehow we can interact with the universe on the quantum level to let our will exert influence. That's just a bunch of hypothesizing.

Well you certainly shouldn't take anything I said as fact. Those are mostly just my thoughts on the issue, mixed with some vague understanding of scientific things.

Truth doesn't depend on anyone believing it. It's true even if everyone on the planet believes something totally different.
Maybe, maybe not. It depends on whether there exists an objective reality or not. The existence of an objective reality is the base assumption of all science, but what if that is just an illusion? Certainly none of us can directly observe this supposed objective reality. We make our own assumptions about it -- i.e. our beliefs -- but no one can verify those beliefs against "the truth" (which may not even exist for all we know), and thus we all live in our own subjective world that is shaped by those beliefs.
