Well, I am really not too sure but just so you know this is a raw VEGAN board which means that this board only promotes eating NON-animal products. No eggs. They come from chickens.

Concentrate on these: ;)
Fruits
Veggies
Nuts
Seeds
Apple Cider vinegar

Yes, the only animal product (dietwise) that can be discussed here is honey. Some of us are strict vegetarians and even vegans (an animal-friendly lifestyle, not just diet), so we don't consume it.

If you make a smoothie, you put whatever fruits and veggies into it, plus add water or juice to make it blend.

Bread is cooked.

Cherries are a fruit. They are raw as long as you don't cook them.

Milk is normally not raw and not vegan. Cereal is not raw, it's cooked. Basically anything that comes in a bag, box, or can is not raw. If you have a cow in your backyard the milk would be raw, but still not vegan.

Cows are harmed in the process, but that's irrelevant.

Eat: Fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, coconut oil, olive oil, and spices. Don't heat any of them up on the stove or in the oven.

That should make it easier for you. Don't eat anything else. :)

I think if you spend some more time reading even though I know you stated that you have a disability with it - if you would please spend much more time reading before asking questions - you will be less likely to ask questions that make it look like you are taking advantage of us.

Did you get my email that I sent you directing you to a thread that I thought would answer many of your questions for starters?

This way of eating is a shocking change and many of us come to it for major health reasons - cuz we want to live - but others view us as real oddballs and we do get people coming to the board as "trolls".

You're welcome here, by all means....but maybe before you post a new thread to ask a question, try the search option up above :)

Keep it raw :D

Well, for one thing, this is a vegan board. Vegans do not eat meat, dairy or eggs of any kind.

There is a guy here named Douglas and he is writing here quite often. He is overweight and makes smoothies every day. Here is his thread:

http:www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=28465&page=2

(hope I did that right). I just went to email option here and since you did not block it the link should have gone to whatever email you signed up with on your home computer. I just wanted to give you the Douglas thread.

We don't eat anything with a face or that comes from anything with a face. We don't eat anything that has been processed in any manner. When people talk about making tortillas they are talking about dehydrating them at a low temperature where they are still enzymatically active. Some raw foodists don't even believe in dehydrating. You have come to the right place because this is the least restrictive method that will take you to success.

I agree with S.R.D. And i'm sorry a few had to hurt your feelings.

Who cares what people think! Most people don't, anyway.

You do what your heart tells you, and the doors will open to you.

Ignore the negative people who do not understand.

If you are sincere, you are always welcome here.

Many people in general don't understand disabliities and think you are messing around, so be it. Get over it. Ignore those people. They are NOT the majority. In fact, they feel insecure that is why they pounce on the weak.

Be strong. Eat raw. Show them how it's done!!:D

And, welcome!!

There are different types of vegetarians. Some eat dairy. Some eat eggs. Some eat eggs and dairy. Vegans either none of those things.

I know how hard it is. I have to cook for my SAD family and I have fallen many times. I also don't have the proper equipment and have never been able to afford Alissa's book. Plus I have been very ill for a long time and just not that energetic to make recipes. Generally if I clean my vegetables and make a huge salad once a day that is doing great for me. Unlike you however, I think I can eat almost any vegetable raw.

I think if you get your own refrigerator that would be a great solution. I have seen them on Freecycle but never when we needed it. Depends on how patient you are. I also just learned that Craigs List has a Free section and you might find what you want there as well as you can post items wanted on there in the category that appplies. (so if you want a couch you post that you want one in the furniture category.)

Why not check out a Class in your Area. During this Class one of Alissa's Certified Teachers will teach you RAW and how to make different items. These Classes are very informative and will solve a lot of your problems.

Also check out meetup.com. This is where like people get together for a RAW Food Meeting and share Food. There you can chat with other people and learn and taste how really Good RAW is. And I guess you are asking..what should I take if I can't prepare anything RAW......Take several AVACODOS..they are ALWAYS welcomed.

Go to Alissacohen.com for more information. Find a teacher in your area or take a 5-day or 30-day with her.

hey there,

i know it might not be easy at first, but here are some tips!

if it comes in a package, a container, a can or a jar- it's probably not raw! avoid these things since it means someone has messed with it. that's probably the simplest thing you can do.

if you go to the grocery store, and you put it in a bag- it's probably raw. if it's in the produce aisle, you're set. ignore the other aisles, they're filled with silly stuff that's no good for anyone!

if you are feeling deprived, add some raw nuts to your diet. make sure they aren't smoked, roasted or seasoned and avoid peanuts at all costs since they're heated to get rid of a mold.

not having a blender is hard. i got mine for ten dollars at a garage sale, so they do turn up. it's not the best, but it does the trick! keep looking on freecycle! once you get it it will be easier to make the recipes!

here's another tip- try un-cooking with a friend. tell them what you're trying to do, and ask if they will help you on your way and maybe go with you to the grocery store as well. Maybe that friend is Ms. Maria? Then you can sit down and enjoy a raw meal together that you have each helped with and feel satisfied!
