View Full Version : My dehydrator just came!!
Hi everyone!! Home from work and class- and there were a few boxes awaiting my arrival, and one contained, yup, you guessed it!! MY DEHYDRATOR!!
I would like to ask if anyone has a suggestion of what to make first. I have so many ideas, but would like an opinion of what should take my dehydration virginity (hehe.) Terrible joke, I know :D.
Thank you for reading :)

I borrowed a dehydrator from a friend of mine, and I made Alissa's , Pesto Stuffed Mushrooms...they were the best i've ever tasted!! MY son (15) ate a ton of them!!
Haha, I probably would too, ut no portabellos :(. Thank you for the suggestion, they are certainly on my list, wayyy up on my list. haha
Moderators- I think this may have belonged in the recipes section, I'm sorry! So excited about the dehydrator, was not thinking!

They all seemed to be below $200, I opted for a smaller one, four tray, and got the older model (including four liner) for 119, i believe it was. from www.rawguru.com (www.rawguru.com).

If you look to the left you will see Alissa's Store. Under Appliances she sells these items. She also is having her own top of the line dehydrator made but posted a while back that the designers are taking a long time because it is a new improved design. There are also many older threads on here debating the merits of different designs of juicers, dehydrators and food processors.

If you are just started out, I would make some staples.
Flax crackers
Tortillas
Energy bars- I use Pumpkin, sunflower, flax seeds, with raisins or goji berries. A dash of cinnamon, salt and agave.
There is a flax sunflower seed bread that is really easy too.
Wow, those are great ideas, Starfire and Solarloving, thank you. Simple and easy will definitely be the key. I have NO idea what I will do, if you read my post in the discussion area, I am just a bit confused by.. rather, with myself. For instance, I just threw some of my super concentrated, super duper green smoothie (mostly green, with a little tomato and frozen watermelon) into some frozen banana, frozen watermelon, and fresh grapes to make icecream, I'm all over the place!

WOW! Thats an amazing deal! I even saw that includes shipping. If I had only know last week! haha
So, I decided to make a bread :). I threw together a couple of recipes I saw posted here, added a few things, and made it my own :D. Looking forward to trying it, should be done today when I get home from work.
Thank you everone, for all of your responses and ideas!

FYI
I have the 4-tray dehydrator too, which uses 11 inch trays.. I believe all the 5 & 9 tray dehydrators use 14 inch sheets. Right now, Excalibur is selling the 11 inch Teflex sheets for $3.95 each on ebay. Teflex sheets (cgi.ebay.com/Excalibur-11-X-11-TEFLEX-Sheets-CLOSEOUT_W0QQitemZ120151650656QQihZ002QQcategoryZ3 2883QQcmdZViewItem) I guess its because the Teflex sheets are being discontinued, and replaced with their newer ParaFlexx sheets. I bought 8 sheets which came out to a reasonable price.
