Hi. My name is Allie. I'm 19yrs old and go to college in Santa Barbara. I am so excited that I found this website. I have been wanting to transition to the raw lifestyle for awhile now. I feel that the excessive partying life in college has become way to much for me. I am sick of feeling exhausted, hungover and just plain blah. I am so excited to go raw and to try this thirty day challenge. I am very new to this lifestyle and was wondering if anyone had any beginner tips or knows of any prep classes in the Santa Barbara area. I want to say congrats to all of you for making this choice and sticking with it! That is so amazing! I hope everyone has an amazing day!! :) :

Wow! That was such an elaborate response! Thank you so much for telling me all this! I am soo excited about this experience! I definately have just learned alot from you. I was wondering if you could tell me if you have felt internally cleansed and how long that took. I am heard much about the internal cleansing that goes on, but I am a little confused by it. Thanks!

Hello! Not to pry, but did you or anyone you knew of who was detoxing release build-up or mucous when you would eliminate. I'm sorry I know that is a very personal and rather gross question. I have heard that this happens during detoxifying and I was wondering if I should expect this to happen to me. Thanks so much!

Hi Allie,
Yes, you should expect this if you do the Master Cleanse. A good friend of mine did it earlier this year and this happened to her, but it passes. It is just the process of eliminating all of the nasty stuff that has been stored in your body. I am starting it tomorrow Saturday, 4/30 and will do it for 1 week then I am starting the 30 day Challenge.
Hope it helps. Let me know if you plan to do the challenge, I would love to partner up with someone for motivation and support. This Raw thing is totally new to me but I am committed to making this change.

I would definately love to partner up with you! I need all the motivation and support I can get! My friends and boyfriend are junkfood junkies! You are planning to do the Master Cleanse before you start this diet, does that help to go raw? I am planning to start the 30day challenge on Monday. However, I am interested in doing the Master Cleanse. Do you know if you eliminate the same stuff on the Master Cleanse as you do just going raw? What causes you to eliminate the mucous on the cleanse?

Hi Allie,
I am not sure what causes the mucus. I will locate the website and send you the link. I have read that it is advisable to do a fast or cleanse to ready your system for the Raw change. I just want to start off as clean as possible that is why I am doing the fast. Do a search through the posits to see if there is any information listed here regarding fasting before going raw. I am also having a colonic next Saturday, the last day of my fast.

You are planning to do the Master Cleanse before you start this diet, does that help to go raw?
Hi Allie - do you have Alissa's book yet? If not, I suggest you get it right away; it will answer your questions. She does not suggest starting with a cleanse or fast. She has very detailed instructions on going 100% raw -- doing the 30 day challenge -- including a 4-week menu. Her advice is based on her extensive experience with helping her clients go raw. However, if you're in school (are you in a dorm?), you may want to eat a little more simply than the "gourmet raw" recipes that are a part of those four weeks. But ... that's up to you, of course.
I don't know much about your background, knowledge, or preparation for going raw, of course. I'm just guessing from the questions you've been asking. So, hopefully, I'm not offending you with my suggestions. There are lots of books out now that give wonderful basic information. Alissa's, as well as others, teaches all about detoxing.
A wee request to Gentry -- can you type using both upper and lower case letters? Using all capitals is very difficult to read and, in the internet world, is considered to be like shouting is in a audible conversation. Thanks so much for considering this, Gentry.
