Just got her book and checked index since hemp is so plentiful here and I like it for all the goodness it has but she has no recipes. I have done a search online for them and found a few raw ones, but mostly drinks.
Anyone know if substitues can be made using hemp nuts/seeds for eg? I don't know what can be done with the powder, and I assume can use hemp oil instead of other oils for dressings?

i love hemp also. i use the oil all the time. i use the powder in smoothies and mashed with banana and all sorts. i use the seeds on salads or in desserts for texture. its so versatile and yummy. i even wear it and write on it :D lol

Hey aililiu - I used to live in Vancouver for 10 years, about 10 years ago and so want to go back - you are right BC is heaven on earth. I can barely afford all my rotting produce and nuts from trying to go raw let alone move back - how I wish I could <sniff sniff>
I think there are not many hemp recipes from American author because altho not illegal to sell I am sure it is still illegal to grow, unlike here, so I guess there is much more awareness of it, there are so many different companies producing hemp here. I just watched a news report from hemp product in US where reporter asked people if they knew what hemp was and either they didn't or thought it the smoke and get high stuff. One guy didn't even want to TRY it.

yeah ill have a hard time if i ever need to move anywhere else, ill be heartbroken :o &yeah... its pretty expensive to live out here :o
yeah its really not in a lot of recipes. brendan brazier uses the oil in a lot of his, and talks a LOT about it, &hes from vancouver-- it really is just popular around here :) as far as recipes go i just use my own judgment. stick it in somewhere i think would taste good.
a lot of people dont know about it and think its the same plant that you smoke, lol. my parents did, actually, i had to really convince them that i was not going to get high from my protein powder. it says 0.00% THC on the container but they were still dubious. HAHA

I'm thinking if any of Alissa's recipes call for sunflowers ground up, hemp seed/powder could be used. Or any recipe calling for sesame seed - hemp seed can replace them...

lucy, absolutely. i use hemp seeds instead of sesame seeds all the time in my asian-style salads. :)
ive never tried replacing the ground seed flour though. huh. good idea! ill try that next.

I found out about hemp thru Brendan Brazier, just heard him on poscast last nite thru rawsummit. I met him at health expo in Van promoting Vega which I still use. Do have question for him tho, not sure that Vega the meal replacement is all raw, has gelatanized maca, is that cooked or not?
Would msg you privately about this stuff but won't work for me!
