the oracle of beets

I recently read somewhere that one way to test the ph of a system is to take in beet juice and if there is red in the urine or bowel that is indicative of......I can't remember! and I can't remember where to reference this....

does anyone know???

Hi-
In Victoria Boutenko's Green For Life book she talks about the red beet color *coming out the nether regions* as an indicator of low levels of stomach acids... I think... I don't know about the pH though.
