Without getting into my past 29 years of existence on this planet in too much detail, I just wanted to say "hello". I'm working on going raw. I'm also working on getting away from all animal products, food and otherwise. I want to feel young, strong, look and feel vibrant and have excellent health, and the SAD road that I've been on hasn't been providing me with positive results.

I look forward to getting to know some of you better, and learning a lot from you all. Wish me luck on my journey. It might get rocky, but I'll do my best. :D

You can do this Strawberry Smoothie. I can't say it will be easy but it's well worth the commitment. There are so many benefits.

Do you plan on trying the 30 day challenge?

Oh do you have Alissa's book? I just got it and it's great especially for a newbie.

Welcome!
I found that Alissa's book is what became my stonghold when I first began my raw journey. It has questions others have asked - she answers.
The vegetable smoothies are what keep me full and have stopped a lot of cravings for sweets that I use to have.
Being raw has so many health benefits too! Stick to the path and you'll see for yourself when those pounds begin to shed and your health improves :)

I'm also a newbie!
it's good to see another person around my age starting this as well. I'm also your average american eater. the regular meat and fast food and barely home cooked meals which usually come from a box..... :(

I plan to cut out all of that. All meat as well. it will take some time but we'll get there!!

I hope Barnes and Noble has Alissa's book..

Welcome!!! There are some great recipes in the food sections and some great advice. There are many long term raw folks here who can help you out because they have walked the same road that you are beginning. Enjoy the trip! :)

;) Thanks everyone for your kind welcome.

Docsharp: I don't know if I'm ready to make the 30 day challenge leap. Maybe September. I don't have Alissa's book, yet. Hopefully soon, but not yet.

rawchocoyotita: What kinda veggies do you put in your smoothies. I've been doing green smoothies for the past week. My usual recipe is:
1 banana
2 oranges
2 big handfuls of spinach or spring mix lettuce
1 medjool date (i dont have any agave yet, and didn't have any raw honey)
a few ice cubes and 1 cup of water
1 T. ground flax or 1 T hemp seeds
The green smoothies seem to keep me satisfied for a while.

ladypeace82: We can do this!!

VeganForLife: I already said it, but your enthusiastic green smoothie post motivated me to make my first post here. Your progress pictures helped tremendously too . You're setting quite the example.

ChaiLife: Thanks for the welcome. I'll go check out the recipes now :)
