Has anyone had food allergies (I don't mean the anaphylactic shock kind of allergies, I mean the digestive or headache or skin reaction kind), and had them go away after being raw for awhile? I am sensitive to so many things like tomatoes, garlic, onions, peppers, oranges, apples, parsley and so on...I love to eat these things, but they do not love me back.:( I had allergy testing awhile ago and all of those foods turned up positive, plus it's obvious when I eat them. Some of those foods make me severely sick, like a stomach virus, it's awful. I'm not sure what to do in the mean time, since so many basic recipes include these things and they're tasteless without them. I made Alissa's marinara sauce over zucchini pasta a few times. The first 2 times I loved it, but I got really sick after eating it and now I can't stand the thought of it. Should I avoid ALL of these foods all at once for a long time and then try again? But then what do I eat???

Please tell me if and how you overcame your food sensitivities.

You might want to try mono eating (one fruit or vege at a time) for a while to see what your body accepts and rejects. You may not be able to eat gourmet recipes.....you may have to simplify your raw diet.

Yep.. had food sensitivities for years and years..

The best thing for them is a 'rotation diet'..( see below for what that means..it means that you eat any offending food once and not again for at least three days)

What happens to us is that after we eat a certain food to which we are sensitive, for a few days, that the body seems to rebel..(like your experience with the zuccini pasta).. I had exactly the same reaction..after a few days of repetition..to the zuccini pasta recipe.. Infact a friend of mine with food allergies and migranes had the same reaction..(could not even bear to look at the dish after a few days)
HOWEVER,
You will find that after a week or so, (should you feel up to it ), you can return to the offending food and once again eat it with impunity..

But , using the rotation diet system, only eat it for one day, and do not eat it any more for at least another three days..or more

My experience is that when i am in a condition of detox or of extreme stress ( which i am usually under ), my food allergies seem to be present.
At these times, i do what is called a "rotation diet", ( which means that i do not repeat any offending food for three days or more.)

I also eat very simply.. often a mono meal..or one food many times a day, and then that food not consumed for three days.

**I have found that since being raw, the problem has steadily improved.
There are less foods to which i seem to be consistently sensitive ( requiring the above steps)**
I have made pretty good habits over time, so i follow the above steps almost instinctively..waiting a few days or so before repeating commonly offending foods..

But it works.. and i really do not have many of the old terrible symptoms i once had..like splitting headaches and the like...

hope this helps.
alice.
