View Full Version : Anyone else feeling extremely greedy?

The hallmark of this months "grand event" seems to be extreme greediness. It started a few days before my period began and it's still in full effect. I'm like a bottomless pit (melon, banana, nut, lemon water, komucha, nuts, grapes, more melon etc....) The Green Smoothies help, but after a few hours, if there's no smoothie around, I'll go for anything! Luckily, I only house raw foods & don't feel like going back out to get something else, so I'm staying on track. But I'm wondering if my body is crying out for something that I don't know to give it. Anyone else having a greedy period?

Thats probably it. You just need to figure out what its wanting.

Sounds more hormonal than greedy. It's a good thing you don't have chocolate in the house. ;)

My only pet peeve about being raw is my bottomless pit. I eat all. the. time. (because I'm hungry all the time). There has been a few days since going rat that my appetite was low, but other than that, I am always hungry. Like now for instance, LOL. I had a peach at 7:00PM and and its 7:39 and I need more food. I ate on and off all day today. My stomach is growing like crazy and its painful. I drink green smoothies and all and it doesnt really help much. Its just the way my body is right now. I am also active so that can account for SOME of it.

I shop several times a week (mostly farmers markets) for food because I have to make sure I have something on hand. Even in the middle of the night - I cannot sleep on a empty stomach; I would be up all night miserable.

oh boy... yep... especially month 3 and 4. ENDLESS EATING, MUNCHING, CRUNCHING, SEARCHING... picking on this - picking on that... even if it's all raw that just can't be good...

then I started eating coconut oil. the 'can't get full', the grazing, the picking, the munching, the constant searching... came to a complete and TOTAL STOP.

I'm on day 10 of the coconut oil and - still nothing - no hunger pit ... no bottomless pit... :D I dunno - but there you go!!!

I'm assuming its the coconut oil -- I'm just glad it's stopped ~ I know one thing I'm definitely NOT stopping the coconut oil!! (cuz one day I did miss my normal morning dose and I could feel that empty gotta fill me up feeling starting up - I left work ~ went home and ate my coconut oil and it stopped. :D ...

I wonder what it is about coconut oil that takes away the hunger? I have a huge pail of it sitting in my pantry that my sister talked me into buying. It's Tropical Traditions Organic Coconut Oil and it's been in the pantry for about a year now. Do you think it is still good?

ABSOLUTELY!! It is definitely still good - coconut oil is amazing it doesn't go rancid. The studies on line show that they even studied 2 year old coconut oil - left out (no refrigeration) and the properties were just as alive and powerful as when it was brand new. No sign of rancidity --

have you done a google search on what coconut oil does for the body? It's amazing!!! ;) :D :D

I'll pick up some coconut oil tomorrow. The "bottomess pit" phenomenon can't be good:-(. I'm hoping this is just a hormonal surge. God knows I've had other manifestations of the surge:-). I want to be better prepared next month.

Dangit!! Wish I'd known this sooner. I had a beautiful jar of virgin coconut oil and threw it out because I "knew" it had to be bad after about a year. Well now I know!

How much coconut oil do you eat? Is the coconut oil at the hfs store raw? Is it one of those questionably raw items? Tell me more! :D

StarFire

Not questionably raw... it IS raw... ORGANIC 100% raw extra virgin coconut oil. I started out eating about 1/2 teaspoon every morning and one right b4 bed. slowly my body adjusted and now I eat it 3 x a day... usually eating between 1 teaspoon to almost 1 tablespoon. I let my body tell me how much it wants. I just scoop it up (its solid) -- it melts very quickly in your mouth and I just swallow it.

I am also using it for oil pulling (1 teaspoon for oil pulling) and my teeth are so white now! See ----> :D !!

It's actually easier for me to eat it solid - cuz when it's melted I spill it! lol!! but a lot of people add it to their smoothies. I don't know how much or how to do that cuz I'm weird - I want to just experience just that coconut oil - nothing between me and it. (I dunno -- almost like there's nothing in it's way to prevent it from doing all the amazing things I read about on line!) silly I know... it's just me... !!

Do a google search and check it out! Just so you are sure you want to do this before spending the money on it!! ;)

Thanks Starfire, I am going to look it up now! I just started oil pulling w/ sunflower oil - just once a day for about 10 min. cause that's all I can do consistently.

Thanks Starfire! I used to take coconut oil when I was cooked but got out of the habit when I turned raw. Its 10:00 and still hungry after a big salad and avocado. I'm going to take some coconut oil NOW. :D

Yipee for coconut oil!
I have also noticed that green powder mixed in water helps me not to be so hungry too...

I tried spirluna (alone) with water and it made me even hungrier. I wonder if green powder would be better. queenb, what brand do you use?

I don't eat stuff like that. I feel great eating foods that are not in containers. My foods are mostly round or flat leafy. In my opinion all a person needs is fresh raw garden foods. Instead of spending your money on packaged food spend it on garden food.

May I ask, what in God's name is oil pulling?
Oh wait, the wonders of internet and our ever so fantastic Google search engine...
Yep, I've found it.
Hey, it sounds interesting.
Does it really work and how do you notice?
I think I'm going to try it, I had never heard of it before (I dó know of the same principle with oil on the skin).

ThIS FORUM ( and coupled with google and forum searches )IS SO AWESOME..
I had never heard of OIL PULLING either until i read this thread.

So i went to the forum search and google search and learned all about it.
It is to the health store on Monday for a bottle of SUNFLOWER OIL.
:D

TO THE THREAD TOPIC:.. in my experience, hormones and mental stress cause me to feel ravenous.

I have questioned it, however, and found that .. normally speaking, on a raw diet, one person consumes
6 POUNDS of fruit

shoot.. i cannot find the rest of the information as to how much one person needs optimally per day..of fruits and veggies..
all i know is that i saw the amounts and breathed a sigh of relief;)

it is normal to be raw and eat a lot.

oh, coconut oil. i love it, but i fear it. i really want to lose weight, and something about sipping down oil straight goes against everything i learned!
darn sad diet, making me fear healthy foods!

I think we all need to fine the way (raw) is best for them. For me, sometimes fresh food just isnt enough. Superfoods for some of us is a good supplement to leafy, round, fresh garden food.

Barose-
I usually use Perfect Food or Barlean's Greens. I did, however, just notice that Alissa sells her own green powder which I am sure is great. I don't usually use too much spirulina because it tastes funny to me. I am more of a grass juice lady myself... Sometimes I mix together Green Kamut juice powder and Barlean's Greens and it actually tastes kind of good...:o

I think that I can use all the help I can get with the whole re-mineralization process so I am a big fan of the green powders and other superfoods. I have found them to be a huge help to me in my healing process.

Thanks for the info queen. I will check out Alissa's (per your and VFL testimonies). A lot of the ones I found at the health food stores have oats in it. Not oat grass, but the actual oat. I'm gluten intolerant so I have to beware.

In a pinch I've taken nut mylk and mixed some of Alissa's green food powder, spirulina, and a squirt of agave and made a green "shake". It's yummy!
