What cooked foods do you consume? Im very high raw and 100 percent most days but the non raw things i occasionally consume are cocoa powder, sprouted breads like ezekial etc, dagoba dark chocolate and occasionally other whole grains. however i feel like even though im not 100 percent raw, this is a heck of a lot better than my old "healthy" vegetarian diet.

cocoa powder and when I'm feeling too lazy to make it - Almond milk, but that doesn't taste all that good *Yuck* so I'm gonna stop drinking it (store bought - not fresh)
Once in a while I use a little organic honey that's been heated - when I run out of Agauve(sp?)

You're right...if you are eating such a diet as yours then it IS definitely more healthy than before and you're on the right track!

However, (and PLEASE don't take this the wrong way) the forum really should focus moreso on the raw portion of your diet and not the non-raw portion. I've seen threads such as this pop up every so often and Alissa doesn't really take too kindly to them because her thing is, what you focus on expands and therefore a whole thread dedicated to non-raw foods doesn't really have much of a place on a raw food support forum. We know and realize that not everyone here is 100% raw and that is not and never has been a problem or an issue. But we want to keep the board mainly dedicated and focused on what we ARE eating that's raw rather than what we're not.

I hope you understand and take this in the context in which I am intending which is not to be harsh or to say that anything is wrong with not being 100% raw...but I have an obligation to keep the focus of the board where Alissa wants to keep it and that is to support you in your rawness, whatever that percentage may be. It's fine when people come on and say that they are struggling with being raw or that they're not 100% raw but we just don't want to focus so much on the portion of our diets that isn't.

At this point, real minor stuff like vanilla extract, liquid smoke, how about those controversial Lara bars once or twice a week.

What do you use liquid smoke in?

I atempt 100% but My Olives are not RAW. I get Divina at the HFS. I have yet to spring for RAW ones online, because $$$. Not sure if woth it I hear they are gross.

My Green8000 and Greens First and Red Alert powder Drinks may or may not be raw.like Perfect Greens (which I cannot take the taste) & Quicker then doing my own with my schedule most days.

My Mass Amino Pattern Tablets (10-15 a day) are probably not raw (thou natural) but I need this supplement (work out , cardio and work schedule, and lack of meals as I am always on the road) so I overlook it.

Some of my spices aren't Frontier spices so I'm unsure of their rawness. Even once I get consistently raw, I am finishing up my Nutribiotic rice protein in my smoothies just to get rid of it. Once that's gone, and i'm what I consider "100%" really it's only some of my spices that are iffy.

You know how a lot of the dehydrator recipes are kinda.....weird? If you search and find a thread for Bacon- Why Not? posted by Rawkinlocks, there's an eggplant recipe with a marinade using liquid smoke that is just fantastic! Good staple to have around when you just need yummy food to cram in your mouth. You know those days?!

Well said. I was going to respond similar to the OP (seems as though Rawkinlocs and I do that frequently).

I personally would rather see a thread going around about how one's gotten off those cooked foods. What foods one has substituted for them.

I'm sure your diet is way better then it used to be. Just strive to make it EVEN better.

thanks guys

i am striving to make it better. its these minimal cooked foods that help me keep the rest of my diet raw bc i dont have a lot of money and i find that staying 100 percent zaps my money more quickly bc raw nuts, coconut oil, almond butter, grains are kinda pricey for me and those are the things that keep me satisfied. im not focusing on them but i dont feel like it should be taboo or criminal to discuss them either. learning about what non raw foods are better for transitioning into a higher raw diet i think is important to me.

That's really in the eye of the beholder. I mean, you are entitled to feel the way that you do regarding this...I'm just relaying to you what Alissa conveyed to me regarding this, that's all. I don't think it's so much that it's "criminal or taboo" either. We're not talking about someone saying, "I just ate ________" but we're talking about an entire discussion based on what non-raw foods people are consuming. The mere mention of cooked food won't cause an upset however, a whole thread dedicated to it is a bit much.

For you and others who choose to NOT be 100% at this time, it may be no big deal but what about the people who ARE striving to be 100% raw and then they come and read posts where people are discussing cooked food and then possibly get tempted? That's not fair to them, especially when they come here to find support to go raw and stay raw, which is ultimately the main focus of the board.

If you are less-than-100% raw then again, that's not a problem at all, but the overall consensus is that it really doesn't need/have to be discussed in a thread of it's own on a board where people come to find a tiny bit of solace from a society where cooked food is the norm and anything other than that is seen as extreme and to some, probably even crazy. Many have expressed that sentiment when this sort of thing has come up before.

I understand your point, honestly I do, but once more, I am merely letting you know how the owner of this forum feels about these types of threads and the reason why. But I mean, you have to do what you have to do and if eating a small portion of cooked food (or even a large portion :::shrugs::: ) is what you need to do at this time, then no one here is going to police you or judge you or anything like that. The forum isn't only for those who are 100% raw...but it is to support one in the raw portion of their diet, whatever percentage that may be.

I think e-mailing each other - those that want to discuss eating cooked/processed foods would be the way to go rather then like Rawkinlocs said, tempting those that are striving to be 100% raw...just a thought...
