Hi, I'm new, so bear with me! :D

Can smoothies be made the night before to take to work the next day? I'm not sure how immediately they should be consumed -- as far as I can tell, some raw recipes can be refrigerated for varying lengths of time, but I haven't come across a definitive answer for the smoothies...it may be obvious and I just missed it! :D

Welcome to RFT- I think you'll like it here!

Regarding green smoothies, they should be just fine if you make them the night before. You might want to check out the following link:

Best of luck to you on your raw journey!:)

With Love.

Yes, they can. You may want to listen to my interview with the queen of green smoothies (other than our own veganforlife) Victoria Boutenko. You'll find it here: rawfood.revvell.com.

Oh, this is so great! Thank you both! :-) I can't listen to the interview right now, because I'm at work (don't tell!) -- I'll try to listen to it later if my computer at home works!

Last question (for now!) - does this apply to fruit smoothies as well, or just green ones?

I have a large garden this time of year could you make them and freeze them?

I know I'm knew....I have a lot of questions...

Both fruit smoothies and green smoothies will keep for 3 days max in the fridge. Mine I make and drink right away.

I would suggest blending and freezing the greens from your garden and you'll have them ready for making up those lucious green smoothies. That's what I do. I get an abundance of greens, wash them, then blend and freeze in canning/freezing (Ball) jars. Then I have them ready for my green smoothies. And DO listen to the interview with Victoria - she is SO knowledgable!!!

What greens do you freeze from your garden?

Blended together - carrot tops, beet tops, lettuces, collard, kale, spinach, any leafy green.
I've also picked quite a bit of purslane and have frozen it for use this winter.

I made a smoothie with fruits on Thursday night and kept it in the blender in the fridge until Saturday morning. To get it a little more slushy, I just added a handful of frozen strawberries. I guess it all depends on how cold you keep your fridge for how liquid it may become.

Sorry I was away from the computer...

This is great info -- many thanks! I'm loving these smoothies and it's a great way to disguise something you wouldn't like plain! I'm on day 6 now... :-)
