I have been a raw vegan now for a while, but I am now finding hard to stick with it. I have just recently started a new job at which it is sometimes hard to stay on track. I am also going through some personal heartache and finding myself wanting to eat with my emotions. In the past this hasn't been an issue because on a bad day I would crave a huge salad or and bunch of exotic fruits, but now it seems to be chips, fried food and the like! I can't let myself slip, but I feel very vulnerable.... even some guiding light would be great!

Not to mention - staying motived is a wonderful cure for 'personal heartache'... what better cure than to loook and feel better than you ever have before?? ;) :D

Sometimes aesthetics are not enough of a motivation.
Try channeling your heart break somewhere. Painting, martial arts, running? Sleep more if you need to. When I'm down, sometimes I just want to sleep. It's not the most ideal situation but at least your body gets some rest.

Or why don't you let the pain wash over you? Just be a miserable depressed person for a while. Get it out. Get over it. Move on.
Or perhaps meditation? Helps me.

Thanks for the all the advise folks... I actually just returned from a weekend on Lake Onterio which was so revitalizing... I spent much time out on the rocky shore line, floating in the water and looking at the amazing sunsets. Although I do still have these haunting feelings, I am gaining ground. As for these green smoothies Veganforlife, I need some more ideas to make them more interesting!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Please get your hands on Victoria Boutenko's book Green for Life. It's one of the most important books I've ever read, hers and Alissa's. I consume either green lemonade or green smoothies every day, often both. Just don't give up:)

Well, veganforlife inspired me to search out green smoothie recipes and I did. Now, just today, I decided to change up the recipe a bit and I used like 8 or so organic romaine leafs, 1 organic mango, and 1 organic banana. I also added a couple tablespoons of organic agave and threw some ice cubes in at the end ... about 8 and crushed them up. Then I poured the brew over a few cubes to keep it chilled and walla ... was VERY tasty. Even my teen-aged daughter said, "yeah, this is really okay."

you want junk food right now...so eat it! just make it raw. seriously there are the most amazing tasting raw junk food (that's of course actually good for you). chips, cake, cookies, chocolate. go ahead...you want some comfort food, endulge and enjoy it! and you really will enjoy it if you know with out a doubt, that in the middle of this needy time you are still keeping your body super healthy.

check out you tube for raw food chef juliano. he talks all about wicked raw junk food. sometimes, i need treats too..go with it. i don't get doubly deppressed about pigging out on unbelievably good cake when i know it's actually improving my health!
it makes it easier to go back to a 'healthier'/ lighter version of raw food when your not depressed about being 'bad'

go online, order a box full of nori chips, raw chocolate truffles, or make your own. i swear you'll be surprised at how sinnfully delish these raw products are.

all the best to you during this time in your life.
