My husband and i are following raw lifestyle. We have lost about 5 Kg in past few months.Very soon we will be underweight for our body frame and structure. How do we maintain our weight and at the same time enjoy raw life ?

When your body is done cleaning out your weight will stabilize and then you will more than likely put some of the weight back on. It is common to lose alot of weight at first (mostly junk) then your body will adjust.

I would not rely too much on "those" charts. I feel they are made mostly for main stream America on the SAD diet. I have a very small frame and according to those charts have been underweight most of my life. If I was to go by those charts and be in the "normal" range, then I would actually look chubby.

Good luck. When I was high raw it was very difficult to gain any weight at all. I got too skinny as well and everyone was worried about me. I felt really good though and I guess that is the important thing.

i'm wondering- did you eat a lot of fats too or mostly vegetables/fruits? i started adding walnuts to my foods and i'm just wondering if eventually it'll make me gain.. which i don't really want :S

vgloveforlife - i had the same experience. no matter what i did i could not gain weight. i already have a tiny frame for being 5'5" and have been 100 lbs for years now, no matter how much or little i eat as a vegan. when i went raw and started practicing yoga almost everyday, i lost a good 5 lbs, if not 7 lbs.

ive had to add some non-raw things into my diet and not be 100% anymore. that may not be what YOU have to end up doing, but for my peace of mind to know that people are not whispering behind my back about being too skinny, it works for me.

i also felt amazing even though i lost weight, being 100% came naturally to me and i had nocravings and never felt starved. i was constantly stuffing my face with raw food.....eating a balance of good fats, fruits, veggies. none of it made me gain! not even bananas and avocados.

i guess you should just see what happens, hopefully you guys can stay 100% and maintain your weight. my yoga practice just hinders me from doing it, i need something extra for MY body.

good luck!

also i should add..

that "going raw" for me meant simply cutting out tofu and seitan and other "fake meat" products aka added protein, as well as hummus, crackers, and non-raw salad dressings. that was it.

so after losing weight i just decided to put those things back into my diet because i already ate mostly fruit and salads as a vegan.

I think I remember Viktoria Boutenko talking about having the same problem in her book Green for Life. If you have the book, you might look at what she had to say. Good luck.
