I am dying of horrible cravings for cooked food over the last couple of days. I have gone 3 weeks 100% raw vegan, with NO slip ups and hardly any problems with doing so. But over the last couple of days I have really started to crave cooked food and I can't find something to satisfy me. It's SO frusterating and I'm sure you all can relate. So I was just wondering about some recipes that have helped everyone else out in the past... Here are some things I'd really like to find a good recipe for:
*Bean and cheese burritos (maybe with some kind of "flour" tortilla is possible)
*Good veggie burgers (looked at some good ones on here, but I'd like to know some faves)
*"chicken nuggets"
*RANCH!!!! Soemthing that actually TASTES like RANCH instead of like blended nuts
and um... anything else that is super tastey and satisfies YOUR craving, cuz maybe they'll help mine. :) Thanks guys

Adriel made raw pizza and it was delicous. She has the recipe in a book, you could go to her journal and ask her to post it, I'm sure she would. :) But the soft burrito craving is the WORST!!! I made sunflower seed soft tacos a while ago, but it was not even close to the same. I just want something more similar to re-fried beans!

I agree with Veganforlife about green smoothies.

I've also recently discovered that when I'm craving any sort of carb and I've had enough fruit, all I have to do is eat 1/4 cup ground flaxseed mixed with 2 Tablespoons raw carob powder and enough water to make a paste. It fills me up, stops the craving, and best of all, is raw and healthy!

You're craving fat protien and sugar

eat lots of nuts/avocados/olives and sweet fruits

When you have a craving for cooked food - think about exactly what it is in the food you're craving

Beans - protien
Cheese - Fat
Flour Tortilla - sugar

I have to say "ditto" on the cravings. My cravings begin to really nag at me during my period time. At that time of the month I want ANYTHING cooked!! It makes me crazy! But as soon as that time is over I revert back to not wanting anything cooked. I tried the green smoothies and they did nothing to quell my need to feed on cooked. I wonder if there is something that would nip that in the bud?

jeannieh99 and others - when I say green smoothies - I don't mean ONE green smoothie is gonna do it. You have to stick with them and include them as a daily part of your raw diet. For some it may take a couple weeks, others a few days. We are all different. They DO work.
There are no fast fixes to "nip things in the bud". That "bud" didn't bloom out into a full fledged weed instantly - you created those cravings. YOU can un-create them and make your body crave healthier foods. For real. I wake up longing for my green smoothie and the days (rare that they are) when I don't drink mine before 9-10 in the morning? My body knows it. It looks forward to that.
I know you all don't want to hear this but this is how our bodies work. We didn't get unhealthy overnight and we aren't going to get healthy overnight either. Give it time - give your bodies what they want and need. And green smoothies DO work. Trust me. Have I let any of you down yet? I KNOW what I'm talking about. In less then a year I have healed myself of two illnesses - by eating 100% raw - that speaks volumes.

I know you are right in what you say Veganforlife. I do, at least, know that there are no quick fixes, I was not expecting anything "overnight" lol..... I just thought it would have taken less time than it has. You know what it is like, I'm sure, to want to see results relatively quickly. I had been doing it for almost 5 months but it probably is going to take way more than that. I was just wondering if there was more to it than what I was doing or something I needed to add to that, is all.

Lucy is definitely right about the green smoothies! I find I get a lot less cravings overall when I have them every day. :)
As far as what to do when the cravings hit, for me it's more about the texture & warmth usually than the actual SAD food. So I try to think of something that has a similar texture but it doesn't have to be anything like the SAD food other than that.
My current favorite for warm foods is sprouted flatbread w/ Alissa's marinara & cheddar cheese sauce on it. Sometimes I marinate some onions and dehydrate those for the top of it just because it makes the house smell so nice. :)
