Living on Live Foods came today and strangely Im almost too excited to read it through. Today was my first day off in 6 days and it rained so I've been reading boards and flipping through the book all day. I am really wanting to make the right purchases so I can start healing. Currently I am on birth control for acne & eager to get off. I was wondering if anyone could offer me tips on what sort of foods/recipes are best for hormonal acne so I could figure out which piece of equipment is most important for me to buy.
Also has anyone here suffered from hormonal acne and cured themselves? I was thinking it would be tougher than other causes of acne to cure.
Thanks

Gosh - sorry I dunno... but for starting out - you cannot beat the 30 day plan Alissa has in her book - it's so balanced and well thought out. Check it out! Sometimes it's easier to get this raw lifestyle under your belt first and then after the first 30 days - begin fine tuning it - and working towards specific goals. I think being raw for the first 30 days will give you a great foundation ... a strong place to start from. Keep it as simple as possible in the beginning.
when you start out by incorporating all different ideas and foods for this and that- it can lead to 1,000 different opinions and much confusion -- so - my humble opinon... get your foundation laid first....
vibrant foods will only help in every area of your body and life... allow your body the first 30 days to focus on doing what IT needs to do --- HEAL AND RE-BUILD. let your body do it's job to bring over all health and well being to all of you - before you decide what it should be doing or what it needs to be focusing on! ;)
remember - it's all a process. It took many years to get where you are today... allow your body the time it needs to build a strong foundation for you!! .. :D

THank you for your replies. I know I need to ease myself into it. Its just ever since I became vegan (two years ago) I've been progessing into a health nut that feels guilty over slight indulgences. The pill is contributing to weight gain and crazy emotions. I am exercising and not eating much and I still feel bad. I only put on 5 lbs but since I was small to begin will its very noticable fat. I want to end the guilt I always feel and have a clear face to show for it.
Is it safe to say I need a dehydrator, juicer, and food processor? I am having second thoughts about the vitamix. I want to be able to make green smoothies and juices the most.

I have just started my 100% raw journey at the start of Aug, and for me,the more simple I keep things, the easier it is right now. You have said you wanted juices and smoothies. I would suggest you start out with a good blender and a juicer for now and once you have given your body and mind time to adjust, then think about buying the other items. Just my 2 cents, we all find our own ways on this journey and what works for one person may not work for you.

I'd recommend getting off the birth control right away if it's strictly for acne. With raw, the acne should clear up within a couple weeks. (It did for me at least). Also, I'd recommend not waiting to start raw. Start NOW, and then keep reading and researching. For me when I started, all I had was a blender, lots of fruits and greens, and a commitment. That's still all I have some 2 months later. plus alissa's book which has lots of great recipes. good luck to you!!

I know I should stop taking birth control immediately but Im so scared of my skin going back to what it was. I quit my part time job b/c of how bad I felt about myself and rarely left the house. All I did was go to school. I feel like going RAW is the answer but im afraid to find out that it isn't, you know?

I hear what you are saying. However, just like anything else in this life, you'll never know until you try. Please don't let the fear get in the way of living the best life you could possibly lead.
