I don't have a dehydrator yet but would love something "bready" to go with my salads, etc. Does anyone know of a good company (and cheap) that makes raw flax crackers that I can buy until I can make my own?

 ;) Don't have an answer regarding the flax cracker company but I'm gonna stretch and recommed you try marinating thick round slices of egg plant in a little olive oil and lots of seasoning.

Spread thick round slice of eggplant with oil on both sides and let sit isn a ziploc at room temp. for @ 45 min or long for more saturation. THen sprinkle with assorted italian seasoning, lots of garlic and maybe a few sesame seeds for crunch.:)

I've ordered from the following company (natural zing, which is a small family-owned company) and have never been disappointed. Their products are very good.

Your oven may be able to be used as a dehydrator in the meanwhile - I've heard of convection ovens working well? You might want to do a search through these forums for more info, but I'm SURE I've seen info and I know people do it.

Oh wow, they have VEGAN Raweo's on that site!!!! Vegan! As in, REAL vegan, without honey! Lucy, thank you SO MUCH for the link! *runs to get credit card* :D

Ok, I'm calm now :p Um, I've tried the Lydia's Organics products they have on that site, and also the flax crackers which are on the 2nd page in that link (they don't list a brand that I could see, but they have like 5-6 flavors, italian, onion-garlic, maple-cinnamon, etc). Both of those I thought were very good--I think I've liked everything I've had from both companies, and some non-raw family members like them too. Whole Foods, as well as a lot of smaller health food stores, might carry products like these depending on where you live.

Just be careful if you decide to use your oven. Mold can grow on foods quickly at low temps and no fan blowing.
