I'm not a nut professor :D ... but my understanding is that there are enzymes inside that need to be 'woken up'... to put it in simple language!! umm... i think that was a bad sentence ?? but you get the idea! :p Also -- it's supposed to make it easier for your body to digest.

have you tried it?? my experience makes it pretty obvious, they digest way better and are less rough

the sprouting also takes them out of the "dormant" stage of being a seed so that they become "living" fresh food

Nuts have enzyme prohibitors that block the enzymes. Soaking them releases these prohibitors. Just as with cooked foods, if we ingest foods that have the enzymes blocked, our body has to use ITS supply of enzymes to digest these foods. But if you eat foods that come packed with their own enzyme packages, one's body can concentrate on other bodily functions, such as healing and curing.
NO! Eating nuts will not make you fat! One needs the GOOD fat in their diet. People are sadly mistaken by this. Raw nuts will NOT Make one fat!

It's moreso for easier digestion...period. I find that if I eat unsoaked almonds I get indigestion...however, if I use unsoaked almonds in a recipe where they are blended or processed in the food processor, then I don't have a problem with them. I don't soak all nuts...mainly only almonds but then, I don't eat almonds by the handful either.

When you eat nuts, if they bother you with indigestion, try soaking them and see if you notice a difference in how you feel. Also, I do not like eating wet nuts SO...I soak the almonds and then dehydrate them (sometimes seasoning them first if I DO want to eat them as a snack on their own) but mainly, for me, nuts are staples only to be used in recipes such as nut milk (I personally never soak before making milk), shakes, pie crusts, pate, cookies, etc. Every so often I'll eat cashews by themselves.

But many raw fooders have said that they do not soak nuts and do just fine...try it and see how YOUR body reacts and if you're fine with not soaking, then don't stress over it.

That's the same question I have Applejax - if I don't soak them are they still considered raw and will I still get the same benefits? Also, usually when I eat nuts I take a vegan enzyme supplement to help with the digestion.

Soaked doesn't mean 'cooked'.

Exactly! Taste test. If your eating a raw diet full of enzymes in your fresh fruits and veggies, etc and you eat nuts of all varieties, and you dont feel bad, or suffer from bad digestion, dont worry. But if you do eat nuts and feel like it's not digesting well, then soak them. Simple. If you soak them, and still feel like there not digesting well, then try a vegan enzyme to help your body.

Enoy those nuts...

AHHH man I did it again... I didnt mean... Oh never mind!
