I tend to watch cooking shows that show meat and all that and it doesn't bother me. I figured if I can just watch maybe I can get myself use to being around people eating SAD food and not be tempted. So far it doesn't bother me to watch the cooking shows and plus when your watching TV there are loads of Fast Food commercials on TV and they make the burger and bread look so juicy but all I can think of when I see it is death, and how it's killing people.

What do you think? Do you watch cooking shows or do you think you would give in?

I try to avoid watching television. Not because watching it makes me want to have SAD food, but because I try to focus on other things.

What I did notice is the amount of commercials for SAD food and how dead animals really are treated as if they were magic food on a commercial. It is really jarring to go raw for about a year, avoid TV and commercials, then watch any show for 30 minutes... wow the commercials and the WAY that they entice people to stuff themselves! It's crazy, and no wonder there's an obesity epidemic. Now if they had commercials on "eat as much watermelon as you want", that'd be awesome. :)

Ok my post seems kind of random now. Sorry!

I haven't watched any cooking shows since going raw... well - no ... I did watch Iron chef a couple of times. I just like watching them scurry around in the kitchen and like to see the unique and creations they come up with!! :D I'm not sure -- other cooking shows I think might torture me!! lol!! ;) especially italian dishes... so.... I spend most of my time on line crusing raw food sites, collecting recipes or my favorite thing... SPENDING TIME RIGHT HERE ON RFT!!

I actually did get horribly tortured a couple of months ago!! I had to watch a program (hula competition) and between every halau that danced - there were commercials - Jack in the Box, taco bell, McD... on and on... my brain was pummelled... I haven't watched much tv since then! :o

I used to watch cooking shows all the time, most all of them on Food TV, I loved watching Nigella Bites, and I still watch that one sometimes, hoping I'll get ideas for raw versions.

Oooh, I used to love Iron Chef, how great would it be if they had the secret ingredient be raw food for an episode? Just a bunch of fresh vegetables and fruits, nuts and seeds. They'd turn off all the ovens and stoves, just pull out a bunch of knives and blenders I suppose. Then again they probably wouldn't be able to do much gourmet since dehydrating food usually takes a looooong time, prob more than an hour! Still, it'd be an interesting episode....:D

OMG!! THAT WOULD BE A RAWKIN AWESOME EPISODE!! Maybe you should write to the show and make that suggestion! NOW THAT WOULD BE A REAL CHALLENGE for all those fancy chefs wouldn't it!!! I LOOOOVE IT!! :D

I don't watch cooking shows, but not because of fear I'd give in... actually, if anything, they'd probably make me MORE committed to raw! :) Cooking shows, fast food commercials, etc, make me upset because I can't stop thinking about the poor animals who died or were tortured for that food. Especially shows that show the raw meat... :( Sometimes I've accidentally turned to one and ended up crying.

But I don't really watch tv much anyway. I have better things to do... like bumming around on the internet all day :D

Yeah I just learned that there is a cooking channel and I would only watch if they had a raw chef on.

I watch them All the time. I watch a lot of things on TV that I don't participate in.......It's called Entertainment. Cooking is an Art. I love Art but I can't paint very well..........ON and On...........

No your not crazy. I had been watching this reality show (which is weird because I don't like reality shows) called Hell's Kitchen. I'm not turned on at all and actually, I'm a little turned off by the meat stuff that they do. I enjoy watching the competition and how the competitors have to come up with creative and tasty things on a whim.... I haven't watched it lately but it didn't bother when I did.

Actually, I find the mind interesting. While I was fasting I was ONLY on the food network watching cooking shows. Same thing happened during my anorexia though. I think it's what the mind can't have it becomes obsessed with. This may be different than watching to translate recipies though.

I like to watch cooking shows but my attitude has changed allot. Pre-raw, I would so WANT Paula Deens' butter-laden foods...now it just makes me nausous and sad for her--I see her food addictions rather than the tastiness of her food. I still love to watch Alton Brown and the Iron Chef and Top Chef. I'm not tempted by their food at all.

I would so love to see the Food Network get a vegetarian/vegan...or even, gasp, a RAW vegan uncooking show. Wouldn't that be great!
