I've finally joined this forum after visiting this and a few others for about three weeks. I always come back here because everyone seems [I]really[I] encouraging and supportive - not to mention all the great recipes (and I've tried several).
I've been eating about 95% raw for the last 3 weeks- other than some pizza yesterday and one Mexican food meal at the river walk in San Antonio last week (and amazingly it didn't even taste that good to me!).
I don't exactly know what led me to raw other than a desire to be healthier, have more energy and hopefully lose some weight. My mother has a great deal of health challenges and I don't want to end up like her. I've been interested in nutrition for some time and have tried to keep my family on as much organic food as financially possible over the last few years.
I am a homeschooling mom to 2ds (9 and 13) and 1dd (5). I have another dd who is living on her own now (21). I have a wonderful supportive husband, who although still eats cooked food when he has the chance, will eat most of what I ask him to try. I live south of Houston, Texas and love it here most of the time - except in August (way too hot). I am a "somewhere between amateur and professional" photographer (don't exactly know what to call myself - I have no professional affiliations but have done weddings and portraits for years, and just recently team photographer for my son's football team). I have also recently (in the last 3 months) begun bicycling (about 15 - 25 miles every other day), although the last two weeks have been a challenge with the Houston heat. I can't believe I have found an exercise that I really enjoy!:D
Sorry, it seems I'm writing a book here. Thanks for your patience! I'm looking forward to getting to know fellow healthy eaters in the future.
