Hi everyone!! This is such a fantastic place! I do plan to post in the newbies section, but with work and classes.. difficult to find time, to say the least, haha.

Something happened to click in my mind, while randomly surfing the web, one random thought to another, and i found myself here.

Granted it has hardly been a week of raw, somewhere near 100%, my sea salt is not celtic, nor himalayin, and a couple of other things, such as honey says only "natural" and with bee propolis, it's a russian brand/company, written mostly in russian, my people are not very descriptive, haha. Long story short, without any transition period, just all of a sudden all raw. Not a craving for a damned thing otherwise.

I am sure others have experienced this, I am just wondering/worried of it possibly backfiring all of a sudden? Running into a McDonalds one day, perhaps?? ;).

I do have a rather long, strange history with food all together. So this seems to be an incredible sudden gift.

Long story short..heh.. that didn't work out by the looks of it, sorry for the essay!

Just looking for some of your very knowledgeable opinions.

Thank you!!

Yana

Personally - for me - it was much easier jumping in 100% immediately.

now for others - they are much more comfortable transitioning in. It all such an individual journey!

Do you have Alissas book and DVD yet? they are truly amazing tools that will help you transition successfully to the raw lifestyle. Without these two tools - I know I would have failed. but ... Alissa made everything so easy to follow - the recipes were delicious and fun to make!

either way - yu just have to follow your heart... and since your heart led you here! ... well.. :D I'd say -- hang on... cuz you're gunna enjoy the ride...!!!

I tried to ease into it several months ago after reading The Raw Food Detox Diet, but that didn't work for me. Then, I saw Alissa on The Tyra Banks Show in July. I'd never heard of her. She was also mentioned in a magazine (First). I went to her website and bought the book. I was 100% raw from then on. It was much easier than doing partial RAW for me. I also did a juice fast several months ago and that was super easy, so I figured actually eating would be easier. I think I was just 'ready', that's all. My mind was ready, so it's been easy. Now, I still like the smell of cooked food though...when people bring stuff in for lunch at work, I like the smell, but I don't feel myself wanting any.

Welcome!! I personally found it easier to just jump right in at 100%, and I have never looked back. Might want to listen to RawkinRadio shows - lots of helpful tips and advice. Enjoy the journey ~ Cathy

Starfire, Veganfor life, CaliRaw, and lafsalot, thank you so much for your welcome mesages and replies!!

Starfire (and Veganforlife, since you concur :)) - I do not have the book nor dvd as of yet, plan to purchase soon, but having just ordered a dehydrator yesterday, do not know when that "soon" will come, haha.

lafsalot - thank you! I definitely will check that out.

It is great to be able to see how differently everyone has settled into raw! Thanks again for your replies!!

hehe i know what you mean about russian labels being not very descriptive- i'm myself from ukraine :D
My transition was unbelievably easy too so far. Still no mcdonald's cravings- i had to go to breakfast to burger king with the peopel i live with... and did not feel like putting that stuff in my mouth at all...and i withstood such temptations as chili and chocolate chip cookies on the table as i came home.. wooho! hope ther'es no backfiring myself

Haha, exactly! If I were to be with people in McDonalds or Burger King I would look at the food and think "but why?!?!". I hope everything is going very well, my comrad ;) without any backfiring!

Welcome:) I too find it significantly easier to be 100% rather than high raw, which triggers cravings for me.

One thing though, it's very common to hear that people went totally raw no problem for awhile and eventually ate some cooked food. Afterall, it's so easy to switch to raw.... then found it very difficult to get back to raw. It's the addictive side to cooked food. Cooked food as an addiction is a problem all of the major raw-gurus I've read have addressed.

After struggling to be raw for a year, I'm now purely raw and committed to staying that away. Okay, just ignore that vanilla extract I use......:p
