Hey Hey! My name is Misty and I am 24 years old. I have a wonderful husband and three fantastic children! I have 2 beautiful girls and 1 handsome son. Them, along with God, are the center of my being. I am in school to obtain my degree as a pediatric nurse. I want to work with children that are terminally ill.
Now, I have been vegetarian for 4 months currently and for 2 years as a teenager. I have been raw for almost three weeks. I have lost 15 pounds so far. I do love it and feel wonderful but I struggle daily to remain raw. I think my problem is that I stay so busy that I often find myself starving with no food. I must pack better! I am so happy to have found this life style and Alissa. I do have her book and I looove it. I am honestly a little scared about making the recipes. I have never been comfortable in the kitchen because I grew up on fast food. I know this is something that I will have to get over and do it. Does anyone else feel this way? Strange I know.
I think it all "clicked" for me when I picked up a copy of Fast Food Nation. Oh my lord! I was blown away at what kind of crap is REALLY in our food. I don’t think I will ever be able to look at the SAD in the same way! When I finished the book, I put it down and said out loud " I want to live". I realized that I would not have a long, quality life with my family if I ate the SAD way. So I just began looking in every bookstore for something. I wasn’t sure what it was but I knew I would know when I found it. I stumbled upon "The raw detox diet" book and from there I went online to learn more about the raw concept. Thats when I found Mrs. Alissa Cohen! I ordered her book and well the rest is...you know how it goes. :p
Thankfully, my husband has also changed his meat-eatin' ways! And He is also raw now too! He has lost 20 pounds so far.
We love it!
