I have just started considering raw food within the past couple of months. As a sufferer of acne and low energy I hope to cure myself naturally with raw food. For the past week I've been trying to incorporate as many veggies, fruits, nuts, and seeds into my diet as possible but have yet to purchase any equipment. Since I don't know any raw foodists or even any other vegans I thought this seemed like the perfect place for me!

hi toolegit4thepit,

I'm new here too. I also have some skin problems and don't like the pharmacutical solutions (are they...I mean ...solutions.... anyway ??@£££$$£££$$$?). And the mood and lethargy I understand.

I made my first green smoothie today....

all the best,

Taizy

That would be so cool. Alissa's book is scheduled to come today so I will definately be experimenting and buying some equipment.

For those of you from Baltimore, I go to a cafe& juice bar called Zias in Towson that features a couple of pieces of raw carrot cake every other week or so. It is so good!
The online menu is posted almost daily which is how often I check to see if the cake is there. I reccomend it!

Hi,

I'm from the MD area too :) and I am also new to raw foods. I've already had a few ups and downs, but this site is a really good resource for practical and moral support.

I wish you the best. You mentioned that you hadn't purchased equipment just yet. I bought items gradually, a piece at a time...a food processor one week, a few non-perishable foods two weeks later. I found that this was the more practical method for me. Just an idea if you haven't already decided upon this route or found something else that works for you.

Again welcome and I wish you the BEST!

Peace and blessings,

I live in the city, but I venture out to Zia's about twice a week for wheat grass juice. Its the only juice bar in the area I know that sells it besides the sunday farmers market.

I have never seen the raw carrot cake, I will have to keep my eye out for it. Zia's is great, Towson is lucky to have it!

Have you been to the Yabba Pot?

*I do think I am going to purchase stuff over time. I am not sure what first. I was thinking about getting a Vitamix but I want to build my commitment to raw before I spend $350-$400. I need to get a few more books and do more research about what recipes are key for my skin to repair and then work from there.

*I love Zia's! I have never had the wheatgrass but I will try the next time I'm there. I just had my first juice there and it def. motivated me to start thinking RAW. I have never been to the Yabba Pot. How is it? I wasn't sure if it was for me because I eat mild stuff.

Hello & welcome!

I also started raw because of severe acne. I had cystic acne and tried many lotions & herbs for for over a year before I found raw. Although it was a slow, gradual process for me, I'm pretty much clear now, after being high raw for over a year. On many occasions recently, I even had people complimenting on how nice my skin is.

I believe raw will also help you, like it helped most people. Good luck! :)

They do use a lot of seasonings and spice there, but there are also items that are milder. They have new selections everyday and have about 5-8 live items on the menu any given day. I really like it b/c its the only place I know in B'more that I can get a full raw meal at that isn't just a salad. They also have yummy raw juices and smoothies. Also Skai, the owner and chef, hosts a 30-day raw challenge a few times per year.

I'll have to try it then! I have been going to zias a lot for their Tofu Wrap but now I need some raw meals.

Welcome to RTF. I am also new to the Raw Foods Life. My Beloved told me about it as a good way to lose weight and also open up spiritually. Raw Foods are natural and you will experience changes immediately. Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing you around the boards.

I'm in Baltimore city! Near Fells Point/Harbor.....

us Baltimorians MUST get together for a raw potluck! There seem to be more and more of us joining the board...

The Yabba Pot is absolutely WONDERFUL....and it's right in the city on St. Paul Street....when I was 100% I ate there almost everyday!

Maybe we could all get together for dinner there one night?

That sounds great to me! My weekends are almost always free, like today...I'm in the house, lol. Just started a new job and I'm so tired to do much of anything on the weekends. Anyway, just let me know when and I'll be there.
